Leader: Iranian Nation Not Influenced by Sanctions

On the 5th day of his trip to Fars province, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei delivered a speech to thousands of enthusiastic people in Nurabad. In his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need for accurate planning and utilizing all human and economic resources by officials in order to improve the country's economic status and added: "All people and officials should, as a national duty, work collectively and within a timetabled plan with the necessary determination and persistence to reach a point where sanctions and embargoes could no longer influence the country."

In a meeting with thousands of Basij and members of the Islamic Republic's Guards Corps, Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution likened Basij to an immaculate tree. He said Basij was the result of Imam Khomeini's (r.a.) innovation and added: "The Islamic Revolution is always in need of Basij members and faithful, motivated, and virtuous youth."

Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, delivered a speech on May 3 to over 20,000 enthusiastic academics and students of Fars province. Addressing army members in a joint ceremony of the armed units of Fars province, Ayatollah Khamenei- the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces- described the army as a peaceful and secure stronghold for the Iranian nation. He said: "Through innovation, this powerful stronghold must be made more and more secure on a daily basis."

Teachers Call on Leader

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, in a meeting with the instructors and teachers of Fars province on Thursday, said: "The dignity and position of teachers in society should be revived according to Islamic thought and logic." His Eminence said: "Teachers should be looked upon with great respect, reverence and nobility in society."

Speaking at a meeting with thousands of ulama, scholars, clergy and students of Islamic seminaries of Fars province, Ayatollah Khamenei described learning theology, divine knowledge and being in close contact with national and international developments as the most important duty of the clergy. He added: "The clergy and the students of Islamic seminaries have a responsibility to help achieve the goals set by the Islamic Republic."

On his visit to the city of Shiraz, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution was treated to a warm and enthusiastic welcome by the local residents.
