President of Turkmenistan Meets with the Leader

 The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei met today with Mr. Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov the President of Turkmenistan and his accompanying delegation. In this meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the strong cultural and historical ties between the two countries and added: "There are various grounds and opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan."

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to the scientific, industrial, and cultural capacities of the Islamic Republic and added that these capacities can help Turkmenistan meet many of its needs. His Eminence also added that such cooperation can be beneficial for both countries.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further added: "The relations between the two countries are improving and the agreements and cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan should be such that is reassuring for both countries."
In this meeting which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mr. Berdymukhamedov extended his congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and described his meeting with President Ahmadinejad as very fruitful.

The President of Turkmenistan also said that useful proposals for cooperation in various fields had been made during the negotiation in Tehran and expressed hopes that the plans would be implemented soon.
He referred to the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway as one of the most important plans agreed between the two countries and said that his country is eager to develop its ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
