Even construction works were carried out for Western interests
The day railroads were introduced into this country, the first thing that occurred to everybody was that the railroads had to connect the capital city to the Persian Gulf through the central provinces - that is to say, Fars and Isfahan. That was the most natural thing that they could have done in this country. But they did not do so… during the reign of Reza-Khan [Pahlavi Regime], Iran’s railway was built based on the interests of the powers which were the big enemies of our country—that is, the UK and Soviet Union at those times—and they named it ‘cross-country railway’! An absolute lie; how come cross-country? For the Allies of World War II—that is, the UK and the Soviet Union—to transfer armaments and supplies through our country, and to use our oil, they built a railway that stretched from—a point at some distance from—the Persian Gulf to Tehran; and then, from Tehran to the Caspian Sea: so that the Russian and British troops could be connected and transport arms, equipment and supplies to one another and take the Iranian oil to anywhere they needed. Thus, the policy of the constructive work in the country, which consisted of building a railway, was so much influenced by colonial policies and foreigners’ infiltration. Consequently, the outcome was that a city like Shiraz—located at the heart of the country—had no railway.

The Mobilized Resistance Forces and the IRGC were innovated by Imam Khomeini (r.a.)
The establishment of Basij was one of the innovations of our magnanimous Imam (r.a.). Turning Basij, which first meant a combination of sacred motives, commitment and devotion, into an organization was one of the major innovations of our magnanimous Imam (r.a.). This was indeed a great movement by Imam Khomeini (r.a.). It was Basij - that is to say, a group of enthusiastic volunteers - that helped establish the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. Although Basij is affiliated to the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, the early members of Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps were the former Basij members. Basij members stepped in and helped form this organization. This is an immaculate tree. Therefore, our nation did not feel enervated at any point during the great event that took place within our country - namely, the Sacred Defense. In spite of the fact that we were incomparable to our enemies in terms of our military might, weapons, and ordinary military capabilities - in fact, all we had was not even a fraction of what our enemies possessed - we never felt inadequate. Despite the hardships during the Sacred Defense, enthusiastic presence of our youth filled hearts with hope, and it proved to be very effective indeed.

Those who most violated human rights broadcast propaganda against Iran
all monopolists, all those who seek to dominate the world, and all those who used to plunder the resources of this country naturally want to deploy their forces against our nation... They are opposed to the very existence of our government and its structure. They are opposed to the slogans shouted by our government and our Imam. Every now and then the domineering powers start propaganda waves against the Islamic Republic. They keep broadcasting such propaganda. They shamelessly broadcast propaganda about the nuclear issue at one point and human rights and other issues at another. But who are the people who broadcast this propaganda? The name of those who broadcast propaganda against us is enough to cast doubt on this propaganda. They themselves have violated human rights more than others. They have organized the highest number of attacks against nations. They have plundered national resources more than all others. It is these people who are at the forefront of this propaganda.

Basiji were the most devout people of the Sacred Defense
During the Sacred Defense Era, it was not only the Armed Forces who sensed the responsibility. All the people were involved. They entered the scene wherever there was a willing heart, or a group of people filled with enthusiasm and genuine faith. Amidst this great nation and land, what remained was Basij which I would like to liken to an immaculate tree. The most devoted, enthusiastic, and motivated people present on the scene were Basij members who never gave up.

If there was no Battle of Karbala, we would be oblivious to Islam's principals today
If this battle had not taken place in Karbala, we would not be aware of the principles of Islam to the extent we are today, and there was probably just a nominal trace of Islam. Not only were this great event and the holy blood of the martyrs not undermined, but they also gained more prominence in history. This is an outstanding example.

Sayeda Zeinab, Sukayna (ra), and the innocent girls and women recognized the magnitude of Ashura
Everyone was wondering what had happened on the day of Ashura. The greatness of the event, the greatness of the jihad done by the Prophet's (s.w.a.) loved one and his companions was not known to anyone. Neither was the magnitude of the catastrophe in which the Holy Prophet's (s.w.a.) sons and loved ones were martyred. The majority of those who were present in that battle did not recognize the importance of this issue. And those who were fighting for the enemies were so ignorant and unaware that they did not realize what had happened. Those enchanted by arrogance, lust, and animal urges cannot understand what is happening in the human world. Of course, Sayeda Zeinab (s.a.), Sukayna (s.a.), and those innocent girls and women did recognize the magnitude of the event. This is what happened on the day of Ashura.

Why does Ashura, in contrast to other events in history, gains more vitality over time?
Some events are forgotten over time, like a weak wave created by throwing a pebble in a pool of water-- there is a wave, but as the time passes, it becomes weaker every moment and fades away in a short time. But, there are events the other way around; they do not fade away over time; rather, time makes them more prominent. One example is the event of Ashura.
