The officials of the Leader's representative offices in universities met this afternoon with Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. During the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei described the current atmosphere of universities as completely appropriate.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the scientific progress and movements of universities, student's political insight, being present on the scene in crucial stages, the religious atmosphere of universities, and the presence of a large number of faithful professors who are concerned about the future of the country are the brilliant realities of the country's universities.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the presence of scholarly clergymen in universities and their close relationship with students is a great blessing that was achieved after the Islamic Revolution. He further added: "This is a great opportunity which everyone should appreciate and the significance of the issue can be understood in the propaganda of the ill-wishers as well as their great concern about the Islamization of universities. This is because the presence of clergymen in universities is one of the manifestations of this Islamization process."
Ayatollah Khamenei further touched on the current situation of universities and said: "Unfortunately, there are some people who only focus on the negative aspects and exaggerate them. And whenever someone expresses satisfaction with the situation of students and youth at universities, it is interpreted as a sign of unawareness of the situation of universities."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that expressing satisfaction with the situation of universities does not mean being ignorant of the negative aspects. "However, all issues need to be considered together in order to be able to make a realistic judgment."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei said that one should not expect universities to be like seminaries. His Eminence further added that issues concerning students' beliefs should also be taken into consideration.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that paying attention to students' moral and spiritual issues helps strengthen students' religious beliefs. "Through advice and proper behavior, remembrance of God should be instilled into the hearts of the youth."
