There is a type of guidance which is specifically for the believers, “A guidance to the Godwary” (Qur’an 2:2). This is a guidance greater than the one they had themselves, and this is the guidance of their faith. This guidance is mentioned in a verse in Chapter Al-Nahl, “Those who do not believe in the signs of God - God shall not guide them” [Qur’an 16:104]. What is meant by “God shall not guide them?” Does it mean that it is not possible for them to ever become believers again? Will they never be given the guidance that is for the faithful? Yes, it's possible. The one who does not have faith today may return to his/her own intellect and inner nature tomorrow and become a believer. So this is not a guidance of their faith. It is the third type of guidance. Because of his/her faith, a believer enjoys divine guidance in a way that a non-believer does not. This third type of guidance is the guidance that is specifically for the believers.
