Our dear and noble nation of Islamic Iran
The revered Leader of the world's Muslims, our dear, kind, and courageous father, has ascended to heaven. A father who, throughout his years of Leadership, kept Iran proud and upright with the banner of independence and unity against all external and internal threats — and who made the freedom-seekers and justice-seeking nations of the world recognize Iran and its people as a symbol of steadfastness against the bullying and the arrogant powers of the world.
Of course, it was only to be expected that the world's tyrants would not tolerate this spirit, and would resort to every path and every means to put an end to the Leadership of this blessed and divinely guided movement, by whatever method necessary.
Yesterday, the vilest and most criminal enemies of humanity, in a savage act, delivered the guide of this global movement to his lifelong aspiration: martyrdom on the path of his ancestor, Imam Hussain (pbuh). Yet they are profoundly mistaken if they believe that such assassinations and brutalities can halt the movement of the Iranian nation and all freedom-seekers of the world.
The path of independence and honor in the face of oppression shines forever bright through the unity and solidarity of the Iranian people. And by God's will, this banner — which has been bequeathed to us from the uprising of Imam Hussain (pbuh) — shall remain flying until the rising of Imam Mahdi (aj).
We mourn the loss of our dear Leader, the cherished jewel of the Islamic world and our beloved country. Yet this heavy grief will not prevent us from preparing for historic retribution, nor from fulfilling our historic duty and the testament of our martyred and wise Leader.
We extend our condolences on this great tragedy to all Muslims of the world, and especially to the great people of Islamic Iran. Relying on the divine promises, we are certain of the victory of the Front of Truth against the international criminals — and we will continue on this path.
