US: A "definite accomplice" in Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza

Mohammad Mahdi Abbasi, researcher in the field of American Studies

Today, few people in the world can deny that the United States of America is the main ally and supporter of the Zionist regime. Despite its many internal crises such as the problem of border migrants, inflation, mass shootings of which only one example in the state of Maine yesterday left 22 dead (Chowdhury et al.), wide political differences, the decline of Biden's popularity in public opinion, and the instability of the country's legislative institutions, this alliance has made supporting the Zionist regime the US’s main priority these days.

Supporting this ally is so crucial for the United States that after nearly three weeks lack of leadership, the US House of Representatives, in its first measure after electing a new Speaker, introduced a resolution with an overwhelming majority of votes to support the Zionist regime (Zengerle).

From the very first days of the recent tensions, US President Joe Biden made it clear that his country will stand by Netanyahu’s government (“Remarks”). So far, some important supportive measures taken by the US government in this regard have included: The provision of the ammunition needed for the Zionist regime’s air defense system a.k.a. as "the Iron Dome" (Capaccio); dispatching more US fighter jets (Liebermann et al.), missiles and anti-aircraft defense systems such as "THAAD" and "Patriot" (Idrees and Stewart) to West Asia, and the simultaneous presence of two American ships "Gerald Ford" and "Dwight Eisenhower" in the region (Liebermann et al.).

In addition to this, a few days ago, Joe Biden asked the US Congress to approve a 14 billion dollar budget in aid to its old ally (Magid) in order to further reveal the participation of the US government (and of course, the forced participation of the American people) in the crimes committed against the people of Gaza.

Statistics show that in the past 20 days alone, more than 7,000 people have been killed in Gaza, including 3,000 children (Najjar et al.), 45 percent of all residential buildings across Gaza have been seriously damaged (UN), and dozens of hospitals, schools, churches, and mosques have also been damaged by Israeli attacks. A city which, according to many international authorities, was the biggest open-air prison in the world (Shan), and is now deprived of many basic human necessities such as water and food.

The role that the US has played in these crimes can in no way be ignored. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution mentioned this issue a few days ago: "The US is definitely an accomplice of the criminals. In other words, in this crime, the US’s hand is drenched and stained up to its elbow with the blood of the oppressed, the children, the sick, women, and others.”

Furthermore, we must not neglect the key role that the US has had in the 75-year life of the Zionist regime; A role that has been well played in all US Republican and Democratic governments and there has always been a serious determination in Washington to ensure the survival of this illegitimate regime. Political support for the expansion of the occupied territories, excessive financial aid such as sending 3 billion dollars annually to Tel Aviv (“How much aid”), and the provision of continuous military and security support are just a small section of the heavy role that the US has played in assisting with the continued life of the Zionists in this region.

In recent years, in order to upgrade the security of the Zionist regime in the region, the Trump administration launched a plan to normalize relations between Arab countries and the Zionist regime in an important initiative known as the "Abraham Accords." This plan continued to some extent in the Biden administration until October 7 where we saw the schemes of the US fail.

Now, considering the news that we are hearing these days with regards to the latest developments in the region, the Americans are not satisfied with just being complicit in the crime. They have also taken over the management of the recent Zionist battle against Gaza. In this regard, the New York Times announced a few days ago in a report that the United States has not yet clearly told the Netanyahu administration what to do, yet it still supports the ground invasion into Gaza. And for this purpose, the Pentagon has sent a 3-star marine named Lt. Gen. James Glynn, along with other US officers, to Tel Aviv to help and guide the Israelis in the challenges of urban warfare (Cooper et al.).

Also, it seems that these days, the management of the media campaign of the Zionists and the laundering of their crimes is also the responsibility of the Americans. In the first few days of the recent tensions, the US media published a big lie that 40 children were beheaded by Hamas (Land). Then last week, Joe Biden and many American officials openly made the false claim that a Hamas rocket fell on the Al-Momadani Hospital in Gaza (“Biden says explosion”). And now, in an attempt to conceal some of the crimes committed by the child-killing Israeli regime, the US president is claiming that the Palestinians are lying about their human losses in the Gaza bombings (“Bides says he has ‘no confidence’”).

Norman Finkelstein, a famous American Jewish historian and author, once said: "There’s nothing Israel can do without US support. It can't breathe without US support. The US bankrolls everything, and it's just silly to think that Israel can do anything without the support.”

This is the reality of the latest developments in the region. The Zionist regime, which, according to many analysts, is going through the worst days of its history and has perhaps suffered its biggest defeat since its establishment, has again turned to its old ally in order to continue its illegitimate life. An ally that today has moved the main war planning room from Tel Aviv to Washington and is definitely a partner in the Zionist regime's crimes against the Palestinian people.
