The settler-colonial regime gets a bloody nose

Saurabh Kumar Shahi, researcher and journalist specialized in West and South Asian Affairs.

We are at the great precipice of time even as I write this. A malignant power in the Middle East, drunk on hubris, has just been given a strategic defeat that they will in all likelihood never recover from. The Settler-Colonial Apartheid Regime in the Middle East woke up in terror early this month as the Resistance Axis broke through its famed defences that it was so proud of. Its intelligence wing—facilitated by friendly regimes the world over and enamoured by its own propaganda that it routinely plasters on Netflix and other mediums—didn’t know what hit them. Hamas’ attack on the occupied Palestinian land has now added another feather to what Hezbollah managed to do almost two decades ago i.e. to let the world know that the fabled Zionist invincibility is just that; a fable.

This was a long time coming. Trump’s lunatic moves, mostly egged by his Jewish and White Messianic Christian donors, came as a respite to the settler-colonial regime. Biden’s furthering of the cause, again egged by the lobby interests in the US, tried to solidify it. However, the Resistance was attentive.

The betrayal that the Palestinians faced at the hands of the Persian Gulf elites left them reeling for a while. The so-called Abraham Accord was penned with the blood of the Palestinians. It was assumed—wrongly—that the Palestinians would accept this as fait accompli. Wrapped in diplomatic language, betrayal has been the way of the hypocrites. However, never to be cowed down for long, the Palestinians, with the help of the Resistance Axis, prepared a pushback, and what a spectacular pushback it turned out to be. The whole conspiracy of creating a status quo where the Zionists go on about their life while the Palestinians live under crushing occupation was thwarted and the Palestinian issue has been brought to the forefront once again.

It has presented a Hobson’s Choice in front of the Persian Gulf and other Islamic elites where they can only come close to the Zionists now at the cost of losing their reputation in the wider Islamic World. This is also a good time to upturn the existing set-up where some of the countries consider themselves the de-facto head of the Islamic World just by dint of their geographical position. This model is unsustainable. There is a growing clamour inside the Islamic World that those countries who put their interest over the interests of the Islamic World have no right to be the leaders of such a grouping. The time is ripe for constituting a body where decision-making is a democratic affair and where they are made in line with the wishes of those in whose name the legitimacy in the Islamic World is being sought.

I digress. Let’s discuss the way forward for the Palestinians. The chimaera of the so-called Two States Solution is now mercifully dead. The Bantustan that the West wanted to give to the Palestinians has thankfully no takers now except for the handful of corrupt elites who collaborate with the occupation. The whole Oslo Accord was signed by the Zionist regime and its backers in bad faith. The Palestinians signed it in good faith but were played in their naivety. The deals and accords where the Western World is a signatory are not worth the papers they are signed on. They are always done in bad faith. Two recent examples are the JCPOA and Minsk agreements. In both cases, the whole deal was done in bad faith by the Western Capitals. Trump’s withdrawal from JCPOA and Biden’s dithering are proof that the so-called internal democracy in these countries is a sham. In the case of the Minsk Agreement, the elites of France and Germany, who were the primary movers and shakers of the agreement have gone on record that they signed the agreement in bad faith. If this is their Aqida then in what parallel universe do they claim that the Oslo Accord had a chance in?

It is also evident that the settler-colonial regime does not believe in diplomacy. History is a witness that every occupied area that has ever been liberated from the claws of the Zionists has always been done through armed resistance and not diplomacy. We saw this in Lebanon and we saw this in Gaza earlier. This gives hope to the Palestinians that even if the Islamic elites of the region betrayed Palestine on the diplomatic front, the Resistance Axis is independent of these betraying Islamic elites and is rooted in the revolutionary tradition that goes back to the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

The only feasible solution to this problem is one democratic state from the River to the Sea where locals of all religions have equal rights and opportunities while those brought from other corners of the world and supplanted here are asked to go back to where they originally came from. This serves two purposes. First, the Palestinians of all religious hues will get their country and the resources for themselves. Second, all the Western capitals and the otherwise who profess so much public love for the settler-colonialists will finally get a chance to put their money where their mouths are. They will get a chance to resettle these occupiers in their lands and make benefit from their talent. The day of reckoning is coming. I am sure that when presented with the opportunity, the Western elites will deliver on their professed love.

However, for that day to come, the Resistance Axis first needed to kick the occupiers out of the Occupied Palestine. Stung by the operational and strategic success of the Axis, the Zionist regime is taking out its anger and the famed valour on the women and children of Gaza. This has once again exposed not only the Western elites who are beholden to the Zionist interests in their respective capitals but also to the Islamic elites who resort to a lot of sound and fury but have very little to show for it on the ground. The carte blanche that countries like the US, the UK, France and the like have provided to the Zionists to murder the civilians with impunity, has etched forever on the minds of the world. When the day of reckoning comes, they must also be forced to pay for their crimes.

Afraid of confronting the Resistance Fighters, the settler-colonial regime is massacring women and children with wanton force. It also threatens to mount a ground invasion. And while it will be bloody, what it does not know is that the Resistance is waiting. And it is waiting with a renewed vigour.
