Another point with regard to this noble verse is that worshiping God is something that exists within a person’s inner nature and in his/her essence. In accordance with his/her nature, human beings are attracted to a point of power, a center of authority and dominance, which they consider to be superior and higher than themselves, and they submit to it. This exists within a person’s soul, essence, and nature at both a conscious and a subconscious level. All the worshiping that takes place in the world is directed toward God. Even an idolater is actually following an inner, inherent inspiration that draws and invites him/her to worship God. Idolaters are also worshipers of God at heart. That which has created a problem in their thinking is their not being able to recognize who is truly being referred to as that superior power and the Lord’s domination. The role of religions is to awaken this dormant human conscience, to open people’s eyes, and to show them who the superior power is to the extent that the human mind and its perceptive powers are able to comprehend.
