Leader Appoints Deputy Chief of General Staff of Iranian Armed Forces for Basij-Related Affairs

The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Commander-in-Chief of Iranian Armed Forces Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei in a decree issued on December 11, 2007 appointed Brigadier General Mohammad-Baqer Zolqadr deputy chief of general staff of Iranian Armed Forces for Basij-related affairs. The text of the Leader's decree is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Brigadier General Mohammad-Baqer Zolqadr,
The Basij Volunteer Force, which was formed on the auspicious order of Imam Khomeini, is an immaculate tree that should expand in all areas of life with the enthusiastic participation of all faithful and committed members of society.
In order to accomplish this important objective and reinforce the Basij Volunteer Force both quantitatively and qualitatively, the new position of deputy chief of general staff of Iranian Armed Forces for Basij-related affairs is created.
Considering the recommendation of the chief of general staff of Iranian Armed Forces and your dedication and managerial experience in high-level positions, I hereby appoint you deputy chief of general staff of Iranian Armed Forces for Basij-related affairs.
I expect due cooperation on the part of the heads of the three government branches and other sectors and honorable social strata.
I pray to Almighty Allah for your increased success in performing your responsibilities.
