Major General Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi appointed as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces

Following the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Imam Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has issued a decree appointing Major General Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

The text of the Commander-in-Chief's decree is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

To Major General Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi,

In light of your meritorious services and valuable experience, and in view of the glorious, honorable martyrdom of Lieutenant General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri at the hands of the evil Zionist regime, I appoint you as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

While turning to God and putting our hope in His grace, that which is expected is Revolutionary action in bringing about the necessary advancements in the capabilities and security defense preparedness of the Armed Forces and popular Basij Forces, in addition to the ability to respond promptly and effectively to any level and any type of threats directed at the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On the eve of the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Ghadir Khumm, I ask the Beneficent God to grant this devoted, sincere martyr the highest rank and position, and to place him alongside those closest to God, especially the Master of the Monotheists, the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (pbuh).
I ask Almighty God to grant continued success to everyone.

Sayyid Ali Khamenei
