Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met with the Afghan and Pakistani presidents today. Speaking at the meeting, which was also attended by President Ahmadinejad, the Leader said that it is essential to hold meetings between the three neighboring countries, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. "We strongly support trilateral agreements, and we are confident that the agreements will prove fruitful."
His Eminence touched on the religious, cultural, and historical similarities between the three countries and added: "Extremism has created problems not only for the governments and nations of the region but also for other countries. Those who gave rise to extremism through their financial and political support are currently plagued by the problems."
Ayatollah Khamenei described military interference as one of the crucial problems of the region and reiterated: "There is a great deal of hatred towards America as the cause of this problem."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the security of Afghanistan and Pakistan is important to Iran and stressed the need for continuation of trilateral meetings.
