Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the Iranian nation was determined to remain independent.
At a meeting with a group of Iranian Air Force personnel which took place on the anniversary of the historic meeting in 1979 between the founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, and a number of Air Force personnel which led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the Leader stated that the resistance of the Iranian nation and their dedication to the ideals and principles of the revolution are the cause of all the pressure being applied against the Islamic system.
He said that just as the Iranian people have been able to successfully tread the path of revolution over the past 25 years by relying on the power of faith and the spirit of struggle, the Iranian nation will continue on this path more diligently in the future as well.
Pointing to the determination of the Iranian nation to safeguard its independence despite the conspiracies against it, he noted that the hegemonic powers led by the United States, which are now pretending to be the defenders of human rights, democracy, and freedom, supported the Pahlavis for fifty years and still offer total support to absolute dictatorships.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the hegemonic powers will continue to exert such pressure on the Iranian nation until they are disappointed, adding that despair will overcome the enemies when they realize that the desire to strengthen itself and the will to remain independent is a tendency of the Islamic Republic which can not be stopped.
