The sole result of bodies aligned side by side, when performing prayer, is a source of nobility for the Prophet(pbuh); but it is also a source of dignity and respect for the Muslim Ummah. Therefore, this is also true for the Hajj congregation. You witnessed, this year, the millions of people who were brought together on Arbaeen. This great movement was preformed by a group of Muslims—it was not only for Shias, Sunnis had joined in, too—and it’s reflection stretched throughout the world; everyone bowed down before this event, for they admired it. They called it the greatest gathering of the world. Who called it so? Those who follow the issues of the Muslim world.
I deem it necessary to thank the government, people and different tribes of Iraq who made sacrifices, rendered services and showed greatness of character in this very important test. This year's Arbaeen of Karbala was an astonishing event. The enemies of Islam and Ahlul Bayt vainly thought that they had blocked the path of Muslims. Notice what a great movement was launched. When even bodies stay together, it has such a reflection. If we stay together, if Islamic governments and Muslim nations - whether Shia or Sunni or different denominations of Shia and Sunni - are honest with one another, if they are not suspicious of one another, if they do not insult and have malevolent intentions against one another, notice what will happen in the world and what great dignity will be brought about for Islam. Unity, unity!
Leader's Speech in Meeting with Officials and Participants of Conference on Islamic Unity; January 9, 2015.
This movement, is the movement of love and faith. We look at them from afar and envy those who have been blessed with the opportunity of taking part in the pilgrimage.
“Despite being far away, we speak in your memory, there is not distance in the spiritual journey”
Those who have walked down this path participating in this movement of love and faith are indeed doing a sacrificial action. This is a great religious ceremony. “Do not violate God’s sacraments”. This is undoubtedly one of God’s sacraments. It would be best for those like me--who have been deprived of such movements—to say, ‘We wish we were beside you so that we could achieve this great success!’
As I said, this movement is the movement of love and faith, where both strong faith and true confidence, from the depths of one’s heart in righteous beliefs, as well as love and kindness play a motivating and stimulating role.
The combination of ‘love and faith’ and ‘reason and affection’ are unique characteristics of the Ahl ul Bayt school of thought, ‘a combination of love and faith, logic and emotions.’
