The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei addressed tens of thousands of the enthusiastic and faithful local residents of Semnan on Wednesday, November 8.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the address at the Takhti Stadium in the city of Semnan shortly after he arrived in the provincial capital of Semnan Province in the first stage of his tour of the province.
Speaking to the large gathering of enthusiastic local residents, the Leader stated that the repeated victories of the great and honorable Iranian nation in the face of the plots of the enemies over the past 27 years have not taken place by random, but that they have been the outcome of a logical process.
He emphasized that there will be more such victories on the horizon, considering the great endeavors of the Iranian people and their trust in Almighty Allah.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the acceleration of the country's construction process and the administration of social justice are high on the agenda of the incumbent government. He described the policies of the government as in conformity with the principles of the Islamic Revolution and underlined the high spirits and great motivation of the Iranian nation.
"The Iranian people's proper understanding of their national right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and their insistence on this indisputable right are the signs of their commendable discernment and high morale. Our people know very well that nuclear energy is one of the main criteria for judging the progress of a nation in present world," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.
He also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is also quite capable of securing this undeniable right of the Iranian nation without asking for any assistance from other countries.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic further touched on the hue and cry raised by the United States about Iran's peaceful nuclear energy program and U.S. negative propaganda to the effect that there is a global consensus against this program.
"More than 150 countries in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as many other nations throughout the world are in favor of putting an end to the global monopoly on nuclear energy, and they admire the Iranian people for their courageous insistence on securing their legitimate nuclear right," the Leader pointed out.
He added that the above reality indicates that the great majority in the world are opposed to a few Western countries' attempts at trampling on the rights of the Iranian nation.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the great national aspirations and high spirits of the Iranian people have helped them to attain the high summits of progress and honor. He also referred to the hostility of global Zionism and the arrogant powers headed by the United States toward the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation for the past 27 years.
"Contrary to the propaganda of the Westerners, the enemies of the Iranian nation, including the United States, are today in a much weaker position compared with some 10 or 15 years ago, and the defeats suffered by the United States in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Afghanistan bear witness to this reality," he told the audience.
Elaborating on the feeble position of the United States in the Middle East region, Ayatollah Khamenei, noted, "Today, a government has taken office in Palestine that would not recognize the Zionist enemy or negotiate with it. This is the sign of a hundred percent defeat of the United States in Palestine."
The Leader of the Islamic Republic stated that the repeated defeats of the United States in the face of the Iranian nation and the Islamic system are not something taking placing randomly, but that they are a result of the faith, vigilance, awareness and valor of the Iranian nation.
"These qualities of the Iranian nation have always frustrated and disappointed the enemies of Islam and our revolution. By the favor of Allah, this will be the case in the future as well," the Leader added.
Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei hinted at the great enthusiasm expressed by other nations, especially Muslim nations, for the ideals and slogans of the Islamic Revolution. He pointed out that the Iranian people have indeed exported their revolution.
"The Iranian people, relying on their intellectual young generation, will continue treading their glorious path with power, dynamism and vitality, and the arrogant powers will ultimately be forced to retreat in the face of the great Iranian nation," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.
The Leader noted that the Iranian people have shown to the world that the real democracy is religious democracy, since in this kind of democracy, contrary to party politics that is prevalent in the West, it is the people who bring their officials to power and who seal the fate of their country.
Ayatollah Khamenei described national unity, religiousness, national dynamism and, in particular, enthusiastic youth of the country as among great divine blessings. He stated that these divine blessings should be highly valued and utilized in such a way as to promote the country's progress and development.
In conclusion, the Leader of the Islamic Republic called on the enemies of the Iranian nation to learn from the bitter experience of their abortive confrontation with the Islamic Republic.
"The world's hegemonic powers should grasp the point that the 21st century, unlike the 19th and 20th centuries, is the era when the spell of colonial policies will be broken; it is the century of spirituality and independence and the nations' return to their genuine identity. Any power that refuses to admit this reality is bound to suffer a setback," Ayatollah Khamenei remarked.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Leader's representative in Semnan Province Hojjatoleslam Shahcheraghi welcomed the Leader to the Province.
