Leader Agrees to LEF Commander's Resignation

The Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on April 4, 2005, agreed to the resignation of the Law Enforcement Force (LEF) Commander Brigadier General Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf.


The Leader also entrusted the command of the force to Brigadier General Abdollahi until the new LEF commander is appointed.

In a letter to the Leader, Brigadier General Qalibaf presented a report about the measures that had been taken by the LEF to promote order and maintain security in society during the years that it was under his command. He also made a request for resignation.

In response to his request, Ayatollah Khamenei wrote the following lines at the bottom of his letter:


In the Name of the Almighty

Expressing my appreciation for the services that were rendered by you and dedicated Law Enforcement Force personnel and satisfaction with the effective measures that were taken by the force over the years that it was under your command, I hereby grant your request for resignation. I hope you will always be favored with divine grace and assistance.

I entrust the command of the Law Enforcement Force to Brigadier General Abdollahi until the new LEF commander is appointed.
