Leader Warns Political Elites Against Causing Insecurity

On the auspicious occasion of Mab'ath, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with government officials and a group of ordinary citizens. Speaking at the meeting, which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Leader said that anyone trying to cause insecurity in society is a hated figure "no matter who he is or what position he holds".

His Eminence described rationality as the most important message of Mab'ath and added: "Establishing rationality in the Islamic community was the first thing that the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.w.a.) did. That is because educating the people of a society to think and reason is the panacea for all problems, harnesses human passions, and prepares the ground for man to serve God."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to legal discipline as another message of Mab'ath and said the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) led the way in practicing the teachings of Islam.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the dignity of the Iranian nation is the result of its success in the hard tests of the past thirty years. "Allah the Exalted has rewarded this success with great achievements for the Iranian nation. And today the general public is moving forward and making selfless efforts to further the lofty goals of Islam, which will result in a sense of dignity and identity for the Iranian nation," he said.

"The fact that the arrogant powers of the world have decided to oppose the Islamic Republic and consider it an obstacle in the way of their evil goals, especially in the Middle East, shows the grandeur of the nation and the Islamic Republic."

The Leader referred to the important role of the elites, luminaries, and government officials and said they act as examples for the ordinary people, further reiterating: "The Iranian nation has shown throughout the past 30 years that it is a loyal and forgiving nation. In the recent issues and events that took place after the presidential election, this characteristic of the Iranian nation was demonstrated once again."

Ayatollah Khamenei added: "There are various tendencies among the Iranian people as far as social life is concerned. Each Iranian individual expresses his or her opinion, but when the nation feels the Islamic Republic is being threatened by the enemies and a movement is being organized to harm the Islamic Republic, it keeps its distance from the enemies even if they shout the same slogans as those of the nation."

His Eminence described the post-election events as another important lesson and experience for the Iranian nation and stressed: "These events taught us that we must beware of the enemy's plots and deception even when a great movement is developing in perfect peace and with perfect stability."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated: "Everybody admitted that the recent election with 40 million voter turnout was an unprecedented honor since the beginning of the Revolution and showed that the Islamic Republic is able to bring the people to the scene even after the passage of 30 years since the Revolution. At the same time, everybody realized that even in such circumstances they must beware of the enemy's plots to harm the nation."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the enemies' claims that they are not interfering in the country's internal affairs, further adding: "The enemies and their media clearly interfere in the country's internal affairs, and such claims are blatant lies."
His Eminence referred to his previous warning about the attempts by the media and intelligence services of the arrogant powers and said: "They are trying to stand against the independence of nations and prevent them from treading the path of grandeur and independence."

He further stated: "The enemies of the Iranian nation teach rioters and unaware people how to cause insecurity and commit acts of vandalism. And then they claim that they are not interfering in Iran's internal affairs."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is necessary to differentiate between "rioters" and "the people" and said: "The media of the arrogant powers refer to rioters as ordinary people in order to support those who cause riots in the country. But the people are those who hold themselves aloof from rioters and view them with hatred."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the long-term goals of the Iranian nation and prosperity in this world and the hereafter can only be achieved in a secure and peaceful atmosphere and said that causing insecurity is the biggest sin.

He further stated: "The elites should be vigilant because any analysis or act on their part which undermines the security of society is considered as a move against the path of the Iranian nation."

Ayatollah Khamenei said: "Everyone should be careful with their words and stances because saying what one should not say or not saying what one should say is an instance of neglecting one's duties."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further stressed: "The elites should stay vigilant because they have been put to the test, and failing in this test is not only a simple failure. Rather, it will lead to their downfall."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that acting on the basis of rationality and wisdom is the only way to avoid such a destiny and stated: "Of course rationality is not the same as engaging in partisan politics because partisan tendencies are against rationality. And those who consider partisan tendencies as rational are making a mistake."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that the true path of rationality is one that leads humans to worshipping God, further stating: "The criterion in this regard is to judge whether our words and stances are aimed at satisfying God or are only intended to attract the attention of a group of people. Thus, we should not deceive ourselves."
