Leader's Letter Endorsing Ahmadinejad's Presidency

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I am thankful to God who once again bestowed honor on Iran and made our vigilant people succeed in creating another timeless epic. Khordad 22, 1388 [June 12, 2009] turned into a golden page in the history of Iran. Our people wrote each and every line of this page through their strong determination, assigning their fortitude and vigilance to safeguard it. The turnout rate of 85 percent in the recent election is a clear sign of this ancient and honored nation's determination and commitment to its achievements during the past 30 years, a sign of the hope and dreams it cherishes in its heart for the betterment of the country and cleansing it of the shortcomings and deviations.

This is all due to God Almighty's grace and blessings, which this humble and weak servant of God and all faithful hearts must appreciate, and we must prostrate ourselves in gratitude before the One who bestowed the blessings on us.

The people's decisive and unprecedented vote for the esteemed president-elect was a vote for the qualities that have adorned the ninth administration's four-year performance record, and this vote clearly shows the orientation of the absolute majority of the people. It is a vote for the dignity-based and fruitful discourse of the Islamic Revolution. It is a vote for fighting poverty, corruption, discrimination, and aristocracy. It is a vote for a simple lifestyle, an affinity with the people, and compassion for weak and needy people. It is a vote for hard work and constant and tireless efforts.

These are the important parts of what the Iranian nation demands of the people it elects. And whenever the nation identifies this orientation in someone, it will pin its hopes on him, and using its freedom which was a gift from the Islamic Revolution, it will place him in a position of responsibility and management.

On the eve of the auspicious birth anniversary of the savior of mankind, Imam Hujjat Ibn al-Hassan (may my soul be sacrificed for his sake and may God hasten his reappearance), I hereby commemorate this great Eid and congratulate Mr. Ahmadinejad on his re-election in the tenth presidential election. Following the honorable Iranian people, I hereby endorse their vote and appoint this courageous, hardworking, and clever man to the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. And I pray to Allah the Exalted to bestow on him and his colleagues the opportunity to serve the people, make efforts to promote the word of Islam, make great and historic measures appropriate for this honorable nation, and diligently move towards progress and justice. Evidently, the vote of the people and my endorsement will be in effect only as long as the president continues treading this straight path.

In the end, I would like to commemorate our magnanimous Imam and our honorable martyrs to whom our nation owes its great accomplishments. And I pray to Allah the Exalted to bestow His grace and the highest of positions on their immaculate souls.

Greetings be upon the righteous servants of Allah
