He added: "Just as people need constant evaluation in the case of personal matters, so national evaluation is also important when it comes to national issues of the country. Enemies of Iran always try to take enthusiasm and excitement out of elections

Because of the importance that our elections enjoy, the enemies of the Iranian nation have always tried to take enthusiasm and excitement out of the elections. They have designed plots to prevent the people from going to the ballot boxes. They have plotted to discourage and disappoint the people. Over the years that we have held many elections - including parliamentary and presidential elections - our enemies have always tried to decrease voter turnout and make our elections less enthusiastic, and this is because of the significant role that elections play in the affairs of our country.

The purpose of the pressures

They say they are concerned that we might go after producing nuclear weapons. The ones who are saying this are no more than a few countries whose names I mentioned earlier, and they call themselves "the global community". They say that the global community is concerned. No, the global community is not at all concerned. The majority of the countries in the world are on the Islamic Republic's side and they support our demand because it is a legitimate demand. If the Americans wanted to resolve the issue, this would be a very simple solution: they could recognize the Iranian nation's right to enrichment and in order to address those concerns, they could enforce the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency. We were never opposed to the supervision and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Whenever we are close to a solution, the Americans cause a problem in order to prevent reaching a solution. My assumption and interpretation is that their goal is to keep the issue unresolved so that they can have a pretext for exerting pressure on us. And as they themselves said, the purpose of the pressure is to cripple the Iranian nation. Of course, much to the dismay of the enemy, the Iranian nation will not be crippled.

The fact that our woman athletes enter sports arenas with hijab is very important. I do not know whether those who evaluate the events of our country have an accurate understanding of this issue or not. This is an extraordinary issue. In a certain European country, some people dare to kill a woman because she is wearing hijab. And they do it in a court of law and in front of the judge. This is the case. They are not ashamed of it. Under a certain illegitimate law, they harass women who wear hijab in universities, stadiums, parks and on the streets. In such conditions, a woman who wears hijab stands on the medal platform in such countries and makes everyone respect her. Is this a minor achievement? This is a very great achievement. Everybody should appreciate from the bottom of their heart the value of woman athletes who participate in international arenas with hijab and modesty. And we should appreciate the value of disabled athletes. What they do is really astonishing.

We need serious rules to protect forests

We need rules for the preservation of forests - these laws do not exist today- and we need a strong will and determination to prevent the lands around large cities from being taken over by those who transform them into buildings, into high-rise buildings. In addition to creating various problems for humans, the first adverse result is that the green environment around the cities - the city's breathing air - disappears. Now even if you plant trees in your houses within the city, it can never compensate for a lack of green area around the city. Meanwhile, good things have also been done, we should not neglect them: around the cities some green spaces were created. However, what is the country's principle assets--green areas around towns, gardens in the cities, and especially forests--should be preserved.

Islam has special emphasis on protecting trees

Plants and trees are a blessing for every country, for every human community; therefore, in the holy Sharia of Islam and in our hadiths, there are recommendations on preserving trees, and preventing the cutting of trees. Well, it is an Islamic recommendation. Today, all the people of the world are paying attention to this issue, and it may be said that people and communities have always been concerned about preserving trees. But the complaint I have-- addressed to all the authorities working in the area of jungles and trees preservation--is that we are planting trees one by one here, but hundreds or thousands of trees are cut off in places where they should not be cut off. This is a big problem. Villages and green spaces around big cities were wrongfully and forcefully given to some people who wanted to use the land for their own interests and they still continue to use the lands for their own interests. Hence, green spaces turned into cement and iron, and buildings-- which is a disaster for the cities. The country's forests have also been under serious threat that should be solemnly prevented.

The U.S. raised the flag of human rights yet inflict the most serious harm on human rights

They claim that they are committed to human rights. The Americans have raised the flag of human rights. They say, "We are committed to human rights not only in our country, America, but also in the entire world." Well, this is a claim. What have they done in practice? In practice, they inflict the most serious harm on human rights and they hurl the biggest insult at human rights in different countries. Their secret prisons throughout the world, such as their prisons in Guantanamo, in Iraq, in Abu Ghraib and their attack on civilians in Afghanistan, Pakistan and in different areas are examples of the Americans' claim to support human rights. Based on the news that is reported every day from Afghanistan and Pakistan, their drones both spy for them and pressure the people. Of course, as an American journal said a few days ago, these drones will be a source of trouble for them in the future.
