In a meeting with the Head and officials of Iran’s Judiciary Branch on June 27, 2023, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stressed on the importance of "mental security" as people's right and that its should be protected by the Judiciary.

The meeting took place in the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah on June 27, 2023, on the eve of the 42nd anniversary of the martyrdom of Ayatollah Beheshti, and 72 members of the Islamic Republic Party, who were killed at the hands of the MEK.

During this meeting, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution described Ayatollah Beheshti as a person who held a high academic rank in the seminary, as someone who was very productive, innovative, a clear epitome of discipline, someone who was patient when listening to the words of others, even his opponents, and was free from hypocrisy and pretentiousness.

Imam Khamenei described the judiciary as one of the main and most important pillars of the Islamic Republic. Citing the opinion of specialists and experts, he considered the document of transformation in this branch as an important and valid document.

Referring to the accumulated experiences of the judiciary system after the Revolution, the Leader added, "These valuable experiences should be used to create transformation. In other words, they should be used to reinforce the strengths and to reduce the weaknesses to zero."

Imam Khamenei further mentioned the important issue of fighting corruption and emphasized that corruption can be contagious if it is not dealt with.

"On the topic of dealing with corruption outside the judicial system, other branches [of government] and other organizations should play an active role in dealing strictly with the root causes of corruption in the institutions under their responsibility, in order to minimize referrals to the judicial system."

During the meeting, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized that the duties of the judiciary which are outlined in the Constitution, including the enforcement of public rights, are very important. “The prevention of startling and disrupting the mental security of people in the real world and in the world of cyberspace is one of the manifestations of securing public rights. The judicial system must attend well to this difficult task with planning, discipline and rules," he said.

Imam Khamenei also considered it important to ensure that people have lawful freedoms. "According to the precise interpretation of the constitution, all the freedoms allowed by the Sharia law must be provided to the people. The institutions usually oppose these freedoms, and the judiciary must fulfill its duties in this regard."

At the beginning of this meeting, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Mohseni-Ejei, the head of Iran’s Judiciary, presented a report on the different activities and measures that have been taken by this branch, including its collaboration and cooperation with the other branches of government as well as its interaction with the elite and other groups in society.
