The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei issued a message today in commemoration of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the devoted veterans of the Iraqi imposed war.

The message reads as follows:

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Commemorating the martyrs of the Revolution in the Sacred Defence Week signifies an important concept. This is a symbolic act signifying that the nations of the world will not be able to defend their identity, grandeur, values, beliefs, and rights without such sacrifices. Yielding to the demands of the arrogant and bullying powers will only result in humiliation for freedom-seeking nations and greater oppression on the part of the arrogant and bullying powers. This is a lesson that the brave and vigilant Iranian nation taught the world, and the lesson will indeed go down in history. Today, the great jihad of the innocent Palestinian nation has rendered the cruel and merciless Zionists helpless and has struck fear into their hearts. Their jihad is an offshoot of the Iranian nation's valuable lesson to the world. The quagmire currently bogging down the occupying forces in Iraq is another result of the important lesson which the Iranian nation taught the world.

Martyrs were the prominent elements of the Sacred Defence Era, and it is due to this reason that all vigilant and pure hearts and those who have faith in Islam and the promises made in the Holy Quran commemorate the martyrs.
