Leader: Rationality Does Not Mean Compromise

Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution today met with the heads and officials of the three government branches. Speaking at the meeting, he described patience and adherence to the principles of Islam and the Revolution as a source of further progress in different sectors. His Eminence also said that rationality dominates the foundations of the Islamic Republic and added: "This rationality would prepare the ground for tireless efforts to realize the revolutionary and Islamic goals."

His Eminence referred to the fact that the Holy Quran has placed heavy emphasis on reliance on patience and prayers and added that it is necessary to pay attention to the relationship between these two factors.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the holy month of Ramadan as an invaluable opportunity for self-edification, piety, and discovering the truth of patience and prayers. He added: "Perseverance when worshiping God, resisting the temptation to sin, and patient endurance of trauma can solve many of the problems that one might face. However, the important point regarding the officials is that observing these three principles and showing patience and perseverance when dealing with public and national issues will prepare the ground for national achievements in political, economic, social, and cultural arenas."

The Leader also touched upon the need for perseverance on the part of the officials when serving the public and carrying out their duties, and advised the officials to avoid taking decisions and measures that would harm the people. He also referred to patient endurance of hardships in such cases as the political propaganda of the arrogant powers against the Islamic Republic. He said that these are two essential instances of patience on the part of the government officials.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic's opposition to international oppression and arrogance and local and international hegemony are the basic reasons behind the enmity of the global bullies towards the Iranian nation. "Global arrogant powers know us well. We also clearly see their claws and their interfering and belligerent nature underneath their attractive appearance. Therefore, the confrontation between the arrogant powers and the Islamic Republic is natural and is based on the familiarity of the two sides with each other," he noted.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described government officials' adherence to the principles as the manifestation of true patience and added: "Global oppressors make an uproar through their media networks about Islamic qisas, Islamic economy, Islamic law, Islamic rule, and other Islamic concepts. However, all government officials firmly adhere to the principles of Islam and the Revolution in spite of this uproar."

His Eminence touched upon the need for the dominance of rationality over all foundations of the Islamic Republic and added: "Rationality does not mean surrender and compromise. Rather, it means making efforts to strengthen the foundations and to find ways of achieving the goals set by the Islamic Revolution."

He criticized those who seek to undermine the foundations of the Islamic Revolution in the name of rationality, moderation, and avoidance of uproar. "These people have grown tired of adherence to the principles of Islam - which is a strong national demand - but they try to attribute this tiredness to the people," he said.

His Eminence further added: "Being devoted, rendering services to the people, and caring about their wishes and feelings as well as adhering to the principles and slogans of the Revolution are important issues that have to be taken into consideration by the government officials."

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated: "If the government officials are proud to be Muslims, to oppose the arrogant and hegemonic powers of the world, and to render services to the public, the nation will also be satisfied with their efforts."

Ayatollah Khamenei also stated that adherence to the principles of the Revolution will by no means hinder the country's movement towards progress, further adding: "The enemies have always tried to make us believe that progress would be impossible if we continued to adhere to the principles of Islam and the Revolution. However, the country has made great progress despite such claims, which is due to the adherence of the nation to such principles and slogans."

Referring to the country's substantial progress in such fields as science and technology, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "Some of the achievements made are unprecedented in the country and even the world, and Iran is in some cases among the few countries to have developed certain technologies."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to nuclear energy as only one of the manifestations of the country's various scientific achievements, further adding: "Our country has also made considerable progress in reconstruction and promotion of living standards."

His Eminence also criticized those who question the nation's great achievements in their writings and speeches and said that such behavior is insulting to the nation. He added: "The Iranian nation is still proud of the slogans of the Revolution after the passage of 30 years from the Revolution - 20 years from the demise of Imam Khomeini (r.a.). Our youth who have seen neither Imam Khomeini (r.a.) nor the war days still praise the movement of the Iranian nation in their words, artistic works, and poems and this is a very important and valuable factor."

Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei described considering public satisfaction in taking different measures as a decent and praiseworthy act, further reiterating: "The administration officials should consider their divine duties as the top priority in their measures and decisions."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also advised the administration officials to avoid rash decisions when dealing with major issues in the country and stressed: "Major plans for the country should not be stopped due to the fear of failure. Also, haste should be avoided in such decisions."

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to the plan for an economic overhaul in the country and said that experts were satisfied with the general outline of the plan. He added: "It is pleasing to note that the plan is to be implemented in line with the policies of the Majlis and that it has, according to the president, has been formulated on the basis of the law and by considering all aspects."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed: "Cooperation among the government branches is necessary for the implementation of the plan for economic overhaul as well as the general policies of Article 44 of the Constitution."
