Leader agrees to the pardon of a number of convicts

On the occasion of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr, Imam Khamenei agreed to the pardoning or reduction of sentences of a number of convicts.

On the occasion of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has approved of a pardon or reduction in sentence for 1,542 people who had been convicted in Public Courts, Revolutionary Courts, by the Governmental Discretionary Punishment Organization or by the Judiciary Organization of the Armed Forces.

On this occasion, the Head of the Judiciary, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mohseni Eje’i addressed a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, requesting permission to pardon, reduce or convert the sentences of these convicts who had been identified as meeting the necessary conditions set by the Judiciary’s Central Commission on Pardoning. This request was approved by Imam Khamenei in compliance with Article 11 of Act 110 of the Constitution.
