Leader agrees to the pardon of a number of convicts

On the occasion of Eid al-Mab'ath, the day on which the Holy Prophet of Islam (pbuh) was appointed to prophethood, Imam Khamenei agreed to the pardoning or reduction of sentences of a number of convicts.

On the occasion of the Bi'tha of the last Holy Prophet, Muhammad Al-Mustafa (peace be upon him), Imam Khamenei agreed to the pardoning or reduction of sentences of 741 convicts who had been sentenced in the Public Courts, the Islamic Revolutionary Courts, the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces, and the Governmental Discretionary Punishments Organization.

On this occasion, the Head of the Judiciary, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mohseni Eje’i addressed a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, requesting permission to pardon, reduce or convert the sentences of these convicts who had been identified as meeting the necessary conditions set by the Judiciary’s Central Commission on Pardoning. This request was approved by Imam Khamenei in compliance with Article 11 of Act 110 of the Constitution.
