Leader Meets Eritrean President

 The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei met with the Eritrean President Isaias Afewerke, this afternoon. In this meeting Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the change in the current situation and equations of the world and also the arrogant powers' retreat due to the failure of their policies and reiterated: "The current situation of the world is different compared to 20 years ago and vigilance and self-belief on the part of nations and leaders of some countries has made the US and other domineering powers retreat."

The Leader of the Islamic revolution considered the dichotomy between the countries of the world as domineering and those who accept domination as an illogical and unjust dichotomy and added: "Asian, African, and Latin American countries can change the current status of international relations by increasing their cooperation."

Ayatollah Khamenei described boosting self-belief and self-confidence as a need for all nations and governments today and stressed: "The U.S and Israel are opposed to the unity of independent countries, and it is due to this reason that they have always played a key role in causing catastrophes and ethnic, tribal, and political wars in the continent."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also referred to the resistance movements of the people of Eritrea in the past and also the sympathetic stance of the Iranian nation towards them. He said: "Iran has a positive perspective on African countries and is ready to increase its relations with African and Asian countries, especially with its neighboring countries in the region."

In this meeting which was also attended by the Iranian president Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Eritrean president Mr. Isaias Afewerke thanked the Iranian nation for its support of the Eritrean nation. He described the victory of the Islamic Revolution as a turning point in the freedom of the countries of the region and stated: "This victory undermined the power and strength of the arrogant powers."

The Eritrean president also referred to the common viewpoints of Iran and Eritrea on different regional and global issues and asked for developing relations with the Islamic Republic.
