Imam Khamenei met with the Head and officials of the Judiciary

Iran's elections a serious blow to its enemies

In a meeting with Judiciary officials on June 28, 2021, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei called the "epic" presence of the Iranian people in the presidential elections this year “a strong blow to the enemies.”

This morning, June 28th, the Head and officials from the Judiciary Branch met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Imam Khomeini's Hussainieh. This coincided with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ayatollah Dr. Beheshti and 72 supporters of the Revolution.

Touching on Martyr Beheshti’s great role in the Revolution and the establishment of the country's Judicial system, His Eminence said, “The country and the nation are greatly indebted to Martyr Beheshti due to his establishment of a system of Islamic justice.”

In enumerating the prominent features of Martyr Beheshti, Imam Khamenei described him as a scholar who was both an intellectual and a theorist. About him, he said, “The late Martyr Beheshti was truly an outstanding, distinguished personage. He was revolutionary and diligent. He believed in the principles of the Revolution from the bottom of his heart. The late Martyr Beheshti was truly committed to the principles of the Revolution and the foundation laid by Imam Khomeini (may God be pleased with him). Furthermore, he was one of the leading figures involved in the preparation of the Constitution. In other words, that great personage should be appreciated and honored in a way that he deserves.”

Referring to the anniversary of the martyrdom of this great personage, Imam Khamenei stated, “On a day like this – the 7th of Tir  (June 28th)– the MEK committed a grave crime against the Iranian nation by assassinating that great personage and about 70 other people. Those assassins themselves confessed to this crime and their confessions are available.”

Emphasizing the falsity of Western countries’ claims about human rights, he said, “Today, the MEK are free to travel and live in those countries, which claim to be supporters of human rights. They reside in France and other European countries. In addition, European governments, the French government and others are not embarrassed of claiming to support human rights despite the existence of such people in their countries and in spite of their support of them and giving them the freedom and opportunity to speak, even in their national assemblies. That is to say, the brazenness of some of these Western governments is truly appalling and strange.”

Imam Khamenei thanked the efforts of Hujjat al-Islam Raisi, Head of the Judiciary Branch, and described the measures he has taken as being an example of a revolutionary, motivated movement. He said these measures have raised the people’s hopes in the Judiciary Branch, "The people’s trust of the active organizations in the Islamic Republic is a great social investment.”

Referring to the good developments in the Judiciary, Imam Khamenei offered a word of advice to those in charge of the Judiciary, "The plan for the transformation of the Judiciary is a strong, good plan. This plan is capable of being put into action and it is not just a slogan or something for appearances. You should proceed according to this plan."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also considered the fight against corruption taking place within the Judiciary to be very necessary and a task with a high priority for the Judiciary to continue. In referring to the presidential elections, he described them as being epic in the true sense of the word. He said the efforts of the enemies to deny the greatness of the elections were futile, and he stated, “The analysts who worked on this election understand what happened. Where in the world is it common for all opposing propaganda machines – the active, influential ones – to do their utmost to intimidate people in order to discourage them from participating in the elections? American and English media, as well as the media of some reactionary, dishonorable countries, focused all their efforts on our elections. Their own agents along with some treacherous Iranian individuals who are living under the American flag or the English flag and who are fed by them, began their work many months ago over the radio, television, satellite channels and in the internet. There were not just one and two of them. There were hundreds and even thousands of them that tried to push the people away from the elections.”

While stating that that the Guardian Council acted in accordance with religion and the law, Imam Khamenei referred to attempts made by the opposing media to cause the people to be disappointed in the ballot box, “Well, despite such efforts, the people come and participate like this. Despite Corona— experts now estimate that at least 10% of those who did not participate refrained from voting because of Corona—people still participated, lined up early in the morning and voted. This was a serious blow by the people to the enemies and to those trying to create a boycott of the elections."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the US elections as "election fiascos" and said, "Those same scoundrels are criticizing our elections. An American official commented on the Iranian elections. Despite their own fiasco, which is still before them, they have found their tongues after several months and speak against our elections. But with their situation and the fiasco they created, they shouldn’t say even a single word about our elections.”

At the end of his statements, Imam Khamenei pointed to the behavior of officials after the elections, describing it as a sign of calm and tranquility within the country, “The fact that the candidates who did not win congratulated the one who did win is a good sign. This is another divine blessing. Compare this with the Americans’ behavior after the elections when one of their candidates behaved very inappropriately toward the one who had won. You remember his statements and viewpoints. Look at their situation just a few months ago.”
