Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met with government officials, people from various social backgrounds, and the envoys of Islamic countries on the occasion of the mab'ath of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). He described resistance in all conditions as the great lesson of mab'ath (the day the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) was appointed to be a prophet), further reiterating: "Relying on this great historic lesson and being present in all arenas - be it confrontation, interaction, or dialogue - the Iranian nation will continue on its path."
His Eminence expressed his congratulations on this great Eid to the Iranian nation, the great Islamic Ummah, and all those who seek freedom and their rights. He referred to mab'ath as a glorious event in the history of mankind and said that it is necessary to learn from it. He added: "In the fanatic atmosphere of the Era of Ignorance, the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) of Islam transformed a society that was devoid of knowledge, morality, and justice into an exemplary society and government that was based upon monotheism, knowledge, justice, wisdom, and morality."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Holy Prophet's (s.w.a.) resistance, steadfastness, deep understanding, and adherence to Islamic path and aspirations were the most important factor that contributed to this astonishing, historic change. He said: "Displaying resistance, audacity, and lack of greed for and dependence on the privileges offered by the enemy, the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) helped strengthen the roots of resistance, peace, and confidence in the hearts of the early Muslims who were few in number. Those few Muslims tolerated the most difficult conditions - especially the extreme hardships after the enemies imposed an economic blockade on them - and managed to overcome the enemies and form an exemplary community."
The Leader also described the adoption of a righteous stance as a necessary but insufficient condition for progress, and added: "According to divine laws of nature, righteousness will achieve victory only when its followers remain steadfast in all conditions."
Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) was the embodiment of valor on battlefields and was completely steadfast when talking to the enemies.
His Eminence strongly advised the general public, especially the youth, to carefully reflect upon the life of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.), which he described as instructive. He also added: "Benefiting form this bountiful stream and following the faith and steadfastness of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.), Imam Khomeini (r.a.) started the Islamic Revolution. His steadfastness caused the Iranian nation to step in and raise the flag of Islamic Awakening in the Middle East, a strategic area, by toppling one of the most dependant governments in the world. Relying on its steadfastness, the Iranian nation helped spread the waves of Islamic Awakening among all nations."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the numerous but unsuccessful efforts on the part of the arrogant powers in order to undermine the resistance of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic and added: "Against the will of all the bullying powers of the world, the Iranian nation still supports the oppressed Palestinian nation. The Iranian nation strongly condemns the disgraceful silence of those who claim to support freedom and human rights in the face of the daily oppression and crimes of the Zionists." He added that US president's support for the criminal and terrorist Zionists and his alleged support for freedom as a disgraceful contradiction. He said: "The Iranian nation is vigilant and is fully aware of these facts."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the bullying and greedy nature of the arrogant powers and reiterated: "If we retreat one single step, the arrogant powers will take a step forward. It is wrong to assume that if we back down and withdraw our truthful remarks, the arrogant powers will change their policies. Such an assumption is totally baseless."
His eminence described as ignorant those who build atomic bombs and threaten the peace and security of humanity. He continued: "They know that the Iranian nation seeks nuclear energy in order to produce electricity, but they try to stop us since they know that it will give us more power. Of course, relying on the useful experience that it has gained during the last 30 years, the Iranian nation will not pay any attention to their remarks and will continue on its path."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the present capabilities of the Iranian nation and its influence and power in the region are not comparable with the past, adding: "There are bright prospects for Iran. We know what we are doing and where we will end up. We believe that we will reach our destination through moving towards our goals and being steadfast, not through stagnation or retrogression."
