Imam Khamenei

We are praying sincerely for the Afghan people: Imam Khamenei

Following the murderous attack by Takfiri groups on Kabul University on November 2, 2020, which resulted in the death of a number of Afghan students, Khamenei.ir is publishing a portion of Imam Khamenei's statements in meeting with Afghan diplomats in 1995 about the friendship between the Iranian and Afghan nations.

After all, we feel a sense of kinship with all Muslim countries -  those which are our neighbors and those which are farther from our borders. But the issue of you Afghan people is something else. It is not even a matter of kinship; it is a matter of living together in one house in all respects. May God protect all of you, and by His Grace rescue you from this bad situation that has overshadowed your country. It is a bad situation.

The Afghan nation, with the assistance of God’s religion and reliance on God, succeeded in expelling that huge enemy from their country. After expelling the enemy, a more serious problem came about. God, the Exalted, suppressed the enemy by means of you, and then internal conflicts began. Brothers’ swords were raised against each other, friends turned into enemies, fellow comrades injured each other. As a consequence, it’s been several years now that the people in Afghanistan are suffering from this problem. We are very concerned and pray that God, the Exalted, rescue you from this situation, make your foundation firm, and bestow stability and safety on you.  We also pray that God, for the sake of the Holy Qur’an and the Guardians He has sent, will cut the foreign enemies’ interference, those who steer these unordinary actions from outside of Afghanistan. And may God by His favor bestow the life on the Afghan nation that they deserve.
