Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution delivered a speech on May 5 in a meeting with tens of thousands of enthusiastic people of Kazerun County who had gathered at the Kazerun stadium and the neighboring streets. His Eminence referred to the dynamic and progressive movement of the Iranian nation, the firm ideological foundations, and the revolutionary enthusiasm of the people, especially the youth, and added: "Preserving the present strong and sincere bonds, the government and the people must make efforts to reconstruct the country and turn it into an Islamic model in all fields of endeavor. This necessitates a sense of responsibility on the part of all the people and government officials as well as unanimity and trust in one another."
His Eminence said that the Iranian nation regained its Islamic and Iranian identity after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Referring to the need for efforts and planning within the framework of an Iranian and Islamic identity in order to achieve predetermined ideals, Ayatollah Khamenei added: "After the passage of about 30 years since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the speed of the movement of the Iranian nation, especially the youth, towards the ideals has increased which has led to the frustration of the enemies of this nation."
Ayatollah Khamenei also criticized those who spread disappointment in the country, saying: "I do not at all believe in what the prophets of doom and gloom keep saying."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the global arrogance network's fear of the increasing prevalence of Islamic awakening as the reason for their concern about the progressive movement of the Iranian nation, further reiterating: "Although the enemies have failed in their various plots to confront the Iranian nation, we must always maintain our vigilance by detecting the enemies' plots."
Ayatollah Khamenei described vigilance, and the presence of intellectuals among academics and religious scholars as the merits of the Iranian nation. Ayatollah Khamenei also described the presence of young enthusiastic Basij members at the forefront of science and technology as another merit of the Iranian nation.
His Eminence referred to the enemies' efforts to foment schism among people with various political, religious, and regional tendencies. He also touched upon the enemies' efforts to make the youth busy with immorality and to divert the youth from the main revolutionary path of the Iranian nation, adding: "The Iranian nation can and, by Allah's favor, will overcome the enemy through unity, solidarity, selfless efforts, and serious progress towards the peaks of perfection."
Touching upon the divine favor and assistance bestowed on the Iranian nation, he said: "The fact that the US government, as the manifestation of arrogance, has encountered many problems and failures is one instance of the divine assistance that has been bestowed on our nation in the present era. Their failures in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon are some of the prominent problems they have encountered."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution later referred to the increasing opposition of the American people to the presence of US military forces in Iraq and added: "This opposition and hatred has reached a level that even the Republican presidential candidate, in order to win people's votes, stated the fact that we have been repeating since the very first day. He said control over the oil resources of Iraq and the region was the main purpose behind the US invasion of Iraq. And this is another fact that bears testimony to the failure of the American government."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that superpowers constantly try to intimidate other governments despite their own failures. He added: "The Iranian nation discovered this secret and did not cower against the US and other superpowers' threats. Our nation will never fear them, and the enemies will never see the decline of the Islamic Revolution."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to not being intimidated by the enemy's threats, bravery, vigilance, and reliance on national capabilities as some of the ways to oppose the enemies, further reiterating: "Besides these issues, the nation and the officials should double their efforts and sense of responsibility to build a country which suits the grandeur of Islam and the Iranian nation." He said: "The bonds between the people and the officials should remain strong and close."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution later stressed: "Those who try to create a gap between the nation and the government and try to cause disagreements act against the country and the nation's interests."
Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the Iranian nation's readiness on all fronts and the official's readiness to render services to the nation and stated: "Unity and mutual trust towards one another would lead to Allah's favor and the ability to overcome problems."
His Eminence added: "The only way towards the Iranian nation's grandeur and progress would be adherence to Islamic principles."
Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the religious and historical background of the people of Kazerun and their revolutionary and anti-hegemonic activities as well as their prominence in scientific and literary arenas, and added: "The fact that Salman al-Farsi, as a prominent figure in the history of Islam, was born in Kazerun is an honor for the people of this region."
Also in this regard, Ayatollah Khamenei stated: "Salman al-Farsi belongs to the whole Iranian nation, and the Iranian people are proud of such luminaries as Salman al-Farsi, whom the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) considered as a member of his household."
His Eminence stated: "Faith, loyalty and struggle for the sake of Allah (s.w.t.) with the purpose of reaching the pure source of truth were among the characteristics of Salman al-Farsi which caused him to reach such a high level. And he is a model for the Iranian youth."
Ayatollah Khamenei described the resistance and the steadfastness of the people of Kazerun in seeking justice as a positive point and a source of dignity for the people of this region and reiterated: "Despite all the suppression which the people of this region suffered, several services such as building roads and dams, developing large-scale industries, and supplying drinking water have all been done after the Islamic Revolution."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also stressed the need for greater persistence in rendering services to the people of Fars province, and described the building of railways as one of the requirements of this province. His Eminence added: "Building railways is one of the rights of the people of Fars province which will be granted by the favor of God."
At the beginning of this meeting, Hojatoleslam Khorsand the Friday prayer leader of Kazerun welcomed the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to the city and gave an account of the revolutionary activities and the historical, cultural, and scientific records of the city.
