Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in a meeting with the model workers and the officials of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, expressed his appreciation of the role of workers in the country's achievement of grandeur and independence. He also referred to the upcoming second round of the parliamentary election and said that the Iranian nation, as in the first round of the election, will once again prove that its motivation is inexhaustible.

His Eminence described as very important the presence of the public in the elections and the parading of the inexhaustible motivation of the nation. He stressed: "Another responsibility that is very important is to elect MPs who are qualified, who care about the people, who are sympathetic towards the public, and who make efforts and cooperate with the Administration, the Judiciary Branch and other sectors in order to help the country progress."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the country's progress necessitates unanimity on the part of the people and the officials and said that the enemies have always traded on the slightest differences in opinion among the officials and caused an uproar in this regard using vast propaganda. "This bears testimony to the importance of unity and unanimity in the country. As Imam Khomeini (r.a.) would constantly say, we must proceed in line with the principles of unity and unanimity, and we must never allow confrontation and needless fault-finding to exist in the country," he said.

The Leader referred to independence as the most important factor and added: "Thanks to the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation has achieved autonomy. Preserving this autonomy requires that we first strengthen the economic foundations of the country, which is itself dependant upon production, efforts, flourishment and innovation in various sectors."

Pointing to the vast propaganda broadcast by the arrogant US government and the evil Zionist network against the Iranian nation, His Eminence said that they have resorted to slandering and causing uproar because they have been defeated in a face-to-face confrontation with the Iranian nation.

Elsewhere in his speech, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the incumbent administration as diligent. Referring to the role and the position of the workers in the country's development, production, progress and independence, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "One of the duties of government officials is to solve the problems of the workers, especially their employment and providing the ground for the increased activities of entrepreneurs as well as labor and production agencies.

Stressing the Islamic perspective on entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship agencies, His Eminence reiterated: "In an Islamic government, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship agencies are like two necessary arms [for the country], and the government must prepare the ground for the appropriate cooperation between the two by striking an impartial balance without allowing either of these two to transgress on the rights of the other."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need for increased attention to conscientiousness and innovation in production sectors. "Sanctity of work and reverence for workers must be high on the agenda," he said.

The Leader referred to the manifestation of national and religious conscience in the working classes throughout the Islamic Revolution and during the Sacred Defense Era and stressed the need for the Iranian nation's appreciation of the working classes. "According to Islamic thought, labor is a righteous deed and constitutes an act of worship, which points to the position and value of laborers in the Islamic government."

In the beginning of this meeting, which was held on the occasion of National Entrepreneurship Day and on the eve of global Labor Day, Mr. Jahromi, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, presented a report of the activities of this ministry.
