Pakistan PM Imran Khan met with Imam Khamenei

A proper end to the war on Yemen will bear positive effects on the region: Imam Khamenei

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, received the Prime Minister of Pakistan—Mr. Imran Khan—and his entourage this afternoon, October 13, 2019.

In this meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei described the relationship between Iran and Pakistan as very deep and popular and urged the corresponding officials to exploit this foundation in order to expand collaboration between the two governments.

His Eminence also pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran proposed a peace plan of four articles a while ago to end the war in Yemen, and that a proper end to the war in Yemen can have a positive impact on the region.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to examples of deeply close and popular relations between Pakistani and Iranian nations and stressed that, “the Islamic Republic of Iran views Pakistan as a neighboring brother and with such unmatched opportunity available, the relationship between the two countries must grow much warmer and closer than it is today; the security at the border must be reinforced, and the implementation of delayed plans such as the gas pipeline must be completed.”

Praising the Pakistani government's concerns about establishing security and peace, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution regarded West Asia as sensitive and important. The Supreme Leader further asserted that everyone should be prepared to prevent adversities while expressing contempt for the destructive role of certain countries in the region who support terrorist groups in Iraq, Syria and wage wars and bloodshed. Ayatollah Khamenei then added: We have no motives for hostility against these countries, but they are under the control of the U.S., and they act based on the will of the U.S. to oppose Iran.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution briefed his audience on Iran’s extensive proposal for putting an end to the chaotic situation in Yemen and held: The Islamic Republic of Iran has proposed a four-article plan for putting an end to the war in Yemen since a long time ago. If this war is ended appropriately, it can have positive effects on the region.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that Iran has never initiated a war and maintained: If anyone initiates a war against Iran, they will regret it.

In this meeting, with the Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, in attendance, Imran Khan— the Pakistani Prime Minister—called Iran and Pakistan two brother countries, stating that: The cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad should expand, and we have counted on relations with Iran, because we regard Iran as an important trade partner.
