From the Ba'athist prisons, the war captive had written a letter in code to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and sent it to Tehran, which was then delivered to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Leader wrote back to him and sent a letter in the form of family and private letters to be delivered via the Red Cross.
This text, which is published for the first time, is one of the documents included in the book “the Hadith of Wilayah of 1989”, a book containing a collection of statements and writings of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, which will soon be published by the Cultural and Research Institute of the Islamic Revolution—the Office of Preserving and Promoting the works of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution—and will be available to those interested.
The text of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s response to the Iranian captive is as follows:
In the name of God
My dear son,
Your letter was promising and soothing, and I received it with gratitude, and I hope to visit you personally in the not-too-distant future. You are honoured by your selfless endeavour (mujahidah) and patience, and we are honored by having you. Success and achieving God's satisfaction, and grace and dignity in this world and the hereafter are gained by way of patience and striving. I see the future as bright, desirable and abundant with divine blessings; God is with us, and you are the light of our eyes. The great loss was hard, but all the grieved were patient and rewarded by God. Again, I’d like to express my gratitude for receiving your letter, and I will send your greetings to all friends and loved ones.
