Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in Hamedan on Thursday that peace and calm are what Iran's Islamic system really aspires.
Addressing the joint military ceremony of the army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Basij, and police forces in Hamedan Province, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the hegemonic powers have regrettably plunged the world into blood, hatred and wrath in order to realize their own illegitimate interests, adding that they have deprived mankind of peace and calm.
In his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian armed forces take lessons from self-sacrifice, vigilance and perseverance of noble martyrs and follow their honorable path, which is the grandeur of Iran and Islam.
The Leader also paid tribute to the martyrs of eight-year sacred defense (1980-88) and the Islamic Revolution.
Pointing to the arrogant powers' threat to the Middle East and West Asia, the Leader said that under such circumstances, any nation failing to safeguard its dignity and identity, is doomed to failure.
He added that the Iranian nation and armed forces, cognizant of this reality, have not shown and will not show laxity even for a moment.
Describing the army, the IRGC, Basij and police as being complementary to one another in Iran's defense system, the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces said that no military threat may be posed to Iran for years, but the country's powerful defense system should maintain its unity and solidarity while improving its combat readiness to defend the country and the nation.
The Leader said the fact that Iran has refused to kowtow to world's bullying powers has given it due dignity in the world.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian nation's perseverance has frightened global powers of Iran's Islamic system, thus incurring their boundless ire.
The Leader said the Iranian nation would continue resistance and perseverance thanks to its national unity and solidarity.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Commander of the Islamic Republic Army, Major General Salimi said that the Army and IRGC have raised their combat readiness within the framework of a deterrent and powerful defense strategy.
The model army units then paraded in front of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
In his address to a group of pilots and air force commanders at the Third Air Force Base in Hamedan, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the key role of the air force in the eight-year sacred defense, saying they have always pioneered in steering the country into self-sufficiency in the domain of military hardware.
The Leader said that the successful manufacture of Sa'eqeh (Thunder) jet by the Air Force and elevation of combat readiness are the results of their faith, relentless endeavors and strong will.
He said such an honorable practice should be followed more vigorously.
Sa'eqeh jet fighter made a successful test flight in the presence of the Leader during the ceremony.
