In this meeting, the Leader of the Revolution, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, reminded his audience of the days when the authorities of the United States praised the dictator of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and supported him against the Iranian nation and how U.S. calculations about Iran failed. He stated: On December 31, 1977, the U.S. president of the time flew to Tehran where he delivered a speech, admiring Muhammad-Reza. In this speech, he said Iran was the ‘Island of Stability’, which meant the U.S. had no worries with respect to the submissive regime in Iran. Barely ten days after this speech, the people of Qom rose up against the client regime and fought with no fear of death. Then, the people of Tabriz rose up and launched a great movement, and the following movements put an end to the client regime.
Referring to yet another example of U.S. authorities’ predictions about the Islamic Republic failing, the Supreme Leader held: This is how the U.S. estimates the situations; the U.S. politicians brag about their calculations and foresight. Here also some individuals who are under the influence of the West boast about the power of the U.S. However, just recently in a gathering of terrorists and thugs, one U.S. official said that he hoped he would celebrate this Christmas in Tehran. Christmas was some days ago [and it is over now]! Just like Saddam said he would defeat Tehran in a few days, or the MEK terrorists who said they would move on to Tehran in 3 days.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the authorities of the United States shallowly boast about their audacity and said: Some U.S. politicians pretend they are mad—which, of course, I do not agree with; however, they are first-rate idiots.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the 1978 uprising of the people of Qom as “lining up two systems of calculations and two ideologies against one another.” He added: One of them is the failed fraudulent liberal democracy of the West and the other one is the monotheist Islamic ideology.
The Leader of the revolution went on to say: U.S. Senate imposed sanctions on Iran during the early months following the victory of the revolution and estimated that the Islamic Republic of Iran would collapse in the course of 5 or 6 months! Now, 40 years have passed since the victory of the Islamic Revolution!
The Leader of the Revolution pointed out to Imam Khomeini’s accurate calculations about the fall of Marxism and asserted: Imam Khomeini (God bless him) said he could hear the bones of Marxism break, and sometime later everyone witnessed it.
Ayatollah Khamenei described animosity practiced by the United States against the Iranian establishment as ‘typical' and said: The animosity of the Arrogant system of the West and the U.S. against the newly emerged phenomenon of the Islamic Revolution is typical. It’s been forty years now that this young revolution has been continuing to grow and becoming powerful. So with the emergence of this new and vigorous spiritual power, the power of the Front of Arrogance has cracked and the crack is deepening.
Imam Khamenei then said: When the truth is present the falsehood trembles. They see they have come to a dead end; whereas, Islam and religious democracy is growing day after day.
Ayatollah Khamenei attributed the hostility of the arrogant powers to the growing power of the Islamic Revolution, stating that: The reason behind their animosity is that the Islamic Revolution is preparing the grounds for an Islamic civilization, which will—in case it becomes fruitful—by the grace of God put an end to the arrogance, oppression, and colonization, which feed on the blood of other nations. The nations across the world—even the Western nations—bear no hostility against the message and the ideal of the Islamic Revolution. They might try to create Iranophobia and Islamophobia, but they won’t succeed.
His Eminence compared the hostile opponents of the Islamic Revolution of Iran to the Pharaohs and stated: Those who are opposed to the Islamic Revolution are the world’s pharaohs. Based on the Quran, Pharaoh knew that Prophet Moses (a.s.) was right. God has said He is with you. Every one God is with will be victorious. If we rely on God’s promise, our victory is certain and absolute. Wherever we retreated and acted weakly, we did not win.
Ayatollah Khamenei slammed American authorities praising Saudi Arabia for ‘observing human rights’ while criticizing Iran on the same matter and mentioned: Some U.S. officials are like clowns. A U.S. authority had said a while ago that Iran should learn from Saudi Arabia how to observe human rights. What can we name such a person but clown? In face of nonsensical words of the American officials, you should be brave and act wisely. Such people’s threats, promises, and signatures are not reliable; you should mistrust them. Choose the appropriate methods wisely and advance with motivation and vigorously.
The Supreme Leader of the Revolution advised the officials of the country regarding their responsibilities and affirmed: I would like to tell the officials that firstly, they should value their own responsibilities; serving these goals, this nation, and this country is a great blessing of God. Secondly, observe the requirements of this great divine blessing. You should be vigilant not to incline to extravagance, prodigality and Taghut-like behaviors. The path is the path of Islam; we cannot act like Imam Ali (a.s.), but we should try to move in the direction of his principles. The problems of the underprivileged classes are the priority for the government officials.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution advised Iranian officials to appreciate the young generation and held: Government officials should appreciate the young people and the youth’s aspirations and ambitions. The youth’s ideas and ambitions have resolved many problems of the country.
His eminence asserted: Be grateful to the country’s domestic capacities and give special attention to the people’s livelihood. The problems of the underprivileged classes are the priority for the government officials.
Imam Khamenei praised Iran’s defensive power developing despite sanctions during 1980-1988 war against Iran, stating: U.S. officials cheer over sanctions, saying the current sanctions are unprecedented in history. Of course, their defeat will also be unprecedented.
He added: Just as sanctions during Saddam’s imposed war against us resulted in the flourishing of our domestic potentials in a way that today we are leading in our region in terms of defensive capabilities, by the Grace of God, we will surmount this stage, too. Just as Saddam was sent to hell, our enemies will also be sent to hell.
