Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei in a meeting with members of the Assembly of Experts on September 22 referred to the competence of officials as the yardstick for their legitimacy.
At the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei felicitated the Experts Assembly members on the birth anniversaries of three Shia Imams (greetings be upon them) in the auspicious lunar month of Sha'baan.
The Leader further referred to the Islamic system, stressing that the objectives, principles, and values of the Islamic system are divine. "However, the policies developed by the system are material, vulnerable, and subject to mistake. Therefore, officials should acknowledge their mistakes, learn from their own mistakes as well as those committed by others, and revise the relevant policies," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei further urged the officials to increase their efficiency and pointed out that their efficiency is contingent on fulfilling their tasks as defined by the Constitution. "No official is expected to work miracles, but their performance should prove their efficiency and success in fulfilling their assigned tasks," he added.
Touching on the propaganda campaign launched by the hegemonic powers' media machine about the need for reform in Iran, the Leader said, "Corruption is what they have in view, not reform. The fact is that colonial powers want the Islamic Republic to revise its principles and values so that they can secure their own interests in Iran."
He attributed the hegemonic powers' hostile attitude toward the Islamic Republic to the fact that Iran serves as a model for the Islamic world. "They keep making threats against Iran on the pretext of its nuclear program and the uranium enrichment process, but the truth of the matter is that the Islamic system has presented a logical model to Muslim nations and proved that a system based on Islamic principles is practical," the Leader noted.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the Islamic system, in view of its daily progress in various political, cultural, scientific, social, and economic spheres, has impressed the intellectuals, the youth, and the Muslims throughout the world.
