The officials in charge of the reconstruction of the city of Bam and the director of the Housing Foundation and Bam's Reconstruction Headquarters met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Wednesday, December 29.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader called on the officials to try to reconstruct Bam in such a way as to meet the various needs of the local inhabitants and also to display the traditional architecture of the region.
Ayatollah Khamenei further expressed his pleasure over the due attention paid by those working at Bam's Reconstruction Headquarters to the principles of public participation, preservation of the city's identity as well as firmness and strength of construction. He stressed that the historical city of Bam should be wholly reconstructed based on these prudent principles.
Elsewhere in his statements, the Leader noted that the local inhabitants expect the reconstruction of their city to be expedited. He called on the officials in charge of Bam's reconstruction to use all the means at their disposal to fulfill this expectation.
Ayatollah Khamenei also described the promotion of social security and meeting the cultural and intellectual needs of Bam's inhabitants as "very important" and emphasized that the cultural institutions and other relevant organizations should play an active part in this regard.
At the meeting, the director of Bam's Reconstruction Headquarters presented a report to the Leader about the city's reconstruction process.
