PIJ Secretary-General Meets the Leader

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement Ramazan Abdullah and his entourage met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Saturday, September 3.

Speaking at the meeting, the Leader referred to the glorious victory of the Palestinian nation and Islamic resistance movement in driving the Zionist regime out of the Gaza Strip and stated that the continuation and reinforcement of resistance and jihad is the only way to counter the Zionist enemy.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the Palestinian resistance and jihadi groups as the symbol of the Palestinian nation's struggle and called them frontline combatants in defending Islam.

"The Zionist regime's retreat from the Gaza Strip was of little worth compared with the rights and demands of the Palestinian nation. But considering the enemy's camp and the many supporters of the Zionist regime, the retreat was a very great victory, and it indicated the weakness of the Quds-occupying regime," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.

Emphasizing that the victory proved that resistance always bears fruit, the Leader of the Islamic Republic further stated, "Similar victories can also be achieved in other parts of the occupied territories, and the path of resistance should be continued with reliance on the Palestinian nation and its valorous youth and in cooperation with jihadi groups."

Ayatollah Khamenei also hinted at the signs of weakness of the enemy's camp, including U.S. failure in Lebanon and Iraq and its lack of success in political confrontation with the Islamic Republic.

"These defeats indicate that the enemy's camp is not as strong and does not wield as much power as it claims, and that it has many vulnerable points. On the other hand, the camp which is seeking to regain its rights benefits from many capabilities, which it should utilize in an appropriate manner," the Leader pointed out.

The PIJ Secretary-General Ramazan Abdullah, for his part, expressed his gratitude to Iran for its moral support of the Palestinian people and referred to the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic as the real supporters of Palestinians.

He said that the Gaza victory was an outcome of treading the path of resistance and stressed that preserving the results of this victory and countering existing threats are also possible through continued resistance.

Further in his remarks, the PIJ secretary-general noted that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement has accepted the ceasefire agreement conditionally, and that it reserves the right to retaliate any military operations launched by the Zionist regime.

Abdullah also emphasized that the PIJ is determined to continue its cooperation with other jihadi groups, and that all jihadi groups will firmly confront any evil plot hatched by the United States and the Zionist regime.
