Ayatollah Khamenei

Action, Led by Muslim States, is the Solution to Myanmar's Crises

Actions of Myanmar's government, headed by a brutal a woman, has led to the death of the Nobel Peace Prize.

At the beginning of his Dars-e-Kharej this morning September 12, 2017, the Leader of the Revolution stated: Reducing the disaster in Myanmar to a religious conflict between Muslims and Buddhists is not acceptable. Religious fanaticism might have played a role in the genocide, but this is mainly a political issue; because, it was organized by the Myanmar government, on top of which stands a cruel woman who had won a Nobel Peace Prize. With recent issues, indeed, the death of Nobel Peace Prize has arrived.

The Leader of the Revolution added, "This tragedy is occurring--through the brutal government of Myanmar--before the eyes of Islamic countries and governments, as well as the International community, not to mention the hypocritical and deceitful governments, who claim to advocate for human rights."

Furthermore, he criticized those relying solely on the Secretary General of the United Nations for condemnation of the genocide in Myanmar, stating: "The sham of advocates, belonging to Human Rights groups, who sometimes stir up conflict due to a country's punishment of a convicted criminal, have opted to show no reaction towards massacre and displacement, affecting tens of thousands of Myanmar's people."

Ayatollah Khamenei urged Muslim states to intervene and take action, declaring: Of course, by action, we do not mean sending in the troops; what is meant is that political, economic, and commercial pressure should be accelerated on the government of Myanmar. Also, people should speak out loud against these crimes at International gatherings.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also called for an urgent session to be held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to discuss the ongoing events in Myanmar and held: Today’s world is a world of oppression. The Islamic Republic should continue to take pride in declaring a clear and courageous stance against oppression, anywhere in the world, be it [oppression] in the occupied territories--committed by Zionists--, in Yemen, in Bahrain or in Myanmar.
