Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Wednesday afternoon with Ramadhan Abdullah, the Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and his accompanying delegation.
Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence reiterated: “Despite the constant creation of various crises by the supporters of the Zionist regime with the purpose of consigning the issue of Palestine to oblivion, this holy land will be liberated in the shade of the resistance and jihad of the Palestinian people and groups.”
Praising the religious motives of the Palestinians and their spirit of resistance, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: “The only way for saving Holy Quds is fighting and resisting and other ways will be futile and sterile.”
His Eminence expressed his satisfaction at the 10-point plan that has been formulated by Islamic Jihad with the purpose of strengthening unity and resistance against the Zionists and stated: “Placing great emphasis on fighting, complete rejection of compromise agreements, insisting on the unity of Palestinian groups and condemning the efforts of some reactionary countries for compromise with the enemy are among the important articles of this plan.”
He stressed the necessity of implementing this plan and added: “Without a doubt, there are some people whose mission is to prevent this 10-point plan from being implemented. Therefore, care should be taken so that this plan will not be confined to paperwork and that it will not be forgotten gradually behind initial and tactical praises.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution mentioned that the main factor behind the existence of numerous problems in the region is The Great Satan and arrogance America. Referring to the interferences of smaller satans, in creating different crises in the region, he said: “The goal of all of them is to undermine the issue of Palestine in the minds of public opinion in the region so that nations forget that issue.”
Ayatollah Khamenei added: “Despite being involved in some regional events, the Islamic Republic has always announced in an outspoken manner that Palestine is the first issue of the world of Islam and that it will carry out its duties in this regard.”
His Eminence pointed to the responsibilities of Palestinian groups, ulama and thinkers and Arab writers towards keeping the issue of Palestine alive in the minds of public opinion, saying: “More efforts should be made to create an intellectual environment and a public discourse in the world of Islam about the priority of the issue of Palestine so that those regional officials who like to compromise with the enemy fear the peoples’ reaction.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to the efforts of America and his regional supporters to create various incidents and to add the element of religion in crises and reiterated: “Despite this propaganda, the Sunni people of Halab [Aleppo], Mosul and other cities have been and continue to be massacred by criminal takfiris. Therefore, these crises have nothing to do with Shia and Sunni.”
Ayatollah Khamenei described the heads of takfiri groups as the “imams of kufr”, stating: “One of the most important issues of the region is to confront takfiri groups – such as DAESH, al-Nusra Front and other groups – in a collective manner because otherwise, the issue of Palestine will be on the periphery. This is because takfiris constantly create crises.”
His Eminence stressed the necessity of decisively fighting against the penetration of takfiris into occupied Palestine. He mentioned: “The mission of these groups is to create fitna. Therefore, they should be confronted with complete vigilance and decisiveness.”
Elsewhere in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that victory is an indubitable divine promise provided that fighting is continued and hardships are endured: “Showing enmity towards the truth front is in the nature of arrogant groups. Therefore, we should not be surprised at the continuation of enmities.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution mentioned that the continuation of fighting requires that we keep our eyes open and have a correct analysis about the events, adding: “This is the approach that is adopted by wise personalities. Our fighting should be continued with complete vigilance.”
He referred to the continuous plots of imperialists against the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying: “With heart-felt confidence in the promise of God’s help, we will carry out our duties in all areas and we will not be intimidated by any bully’s opposition.”
His Eminence said that it is important that Palestine has a young population. Pointing to the Palestinian movement at the West Bank, he stated: “As I said before, the Zionist regime will not exist 25 years from now provided that Muslims fight against the Zionists in a collective and unanimous manner.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that serious attention should be paid to the enemies’ effort to create discord and problems inside the Islamic Jihad movement: “In the present time, the Islamic Jihad movement is even more important than the past.”
Thanking the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Republic for their courageous and wise positions and also the brothers in Hezbollah of Lebanon for their support of the Palestinian ideal and the oppressed people of Palestine, Abdullah referred to the existence of turbulent conditions in the region and said: “Sadly, some Arab governments have abandoned the Palestinian cause and they overtake one another for allying themselves with the Zionist regime.”
The Secretary General of Islamic Jihad mentioned that the reason why the people of Palestine are increasingly being oppressed and why their lands are being occupied by the Zionists – particularly in the West Bank – is the existence of these turbulent conditions. Criticizing the Palestinian National Authority for its cooperation with the Zionist regime, he said: “Fortunately today, Palestinian youth are awake. They have taken the initiative into their hands and they are pursuing the intifada.”
He stated that continuing the siege of more than two million Palestinians in Gaza and depriving them of the basic necessities of life are other problems of Palestine: “On the basis of the 10-point plan that it has launched recently and that has been welcomed by thinkers and writers in the Arab world, the Islamic Jihad movement believes that the only way to achieve victory is showing resistance in Gaza and supporting the intifada in the West Bank. The self-governing administration should also declare the Oslo Accords null and void.”
Pointing to the remarkable increase in the military capability of resistance groups in comparison with the 51-day war against the Zionist regime and to the improvement of the resistance’s missiles in terms of their range and precision, the Secretary General of Islamic Jihad said: “Palestine is a land of destiny and the region will not be calm until the rights of its owners are returned.”
