Leader Attends Mourning Ceremony on the Second Night of Mourning for Her Holiness Fatimah

The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei attended a mourning ceremony at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini on the second night of mourning for Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her) on Tuesday, June 27.

At the beginning of the ceremony, which was attended by a large group of Tehran residents and a number of officials of the Islamic Republic, the participants said their evening and night prayers, which were led by Ayatollah Khamenei.

After the prayers, the interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Sayyid Ahmad Khatami talked about the great virtues of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his infallible household) and his noble and dignified daughter Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her), describing them as prominent models for all the men and women in the world.

"The most important lesson that today we need to learn from these prominent models is patience and perseverance. Our present age is the era of Islamic awakening. The Holy Prophet of Islam persevered and suffered many hardships, and today we are proud to be his followers," the interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran added.

Hojjatoleslam Khatami further stated that those who adhere to their religion will have to suffer certain hardships, and that they should be prepared to sacrifice their precious things and even their lives for the sake of their religion. He noted that there is no compatibility between pleasure-seeking and adherence to religion.

Afterwards, the eulogist of the holy prophet's household Hajji Mohammadreza Taheri referred to the afflictions that Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her) suffered after the holy prophet's departure.
