Thousands of people from several Iranian provinces, including those with various ethnic backgrounds, met with Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution today, August 1, 2016, at the Hussainiyah of Imam Khomeini. While the meeting was in session, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the people’s economic problems as his deep and constant concern. He stressed that relying on domestic capacities is the only solution to their problems, adding the following: “JCPOA proved once again - through experience - the uselessness of negotiating with the Americans (US), and their breaching pledges and the necessity of distrusting the U.S.’s promises; indicating that the path towards progression and the improvement of livelihood in the country (Iran) is paying close attention to the domestic potentials, rather than the enemies, who are constantly after creating obstacles for Iran.”
The Leader of the Revolution acknowledged the diversity among the attendees, who came from several provinces within the country; he stressed, such diversity proves that Iranians - despite speaking different languages, despite coming from a mixture of ethnicities and religious sects - are united and unified; thus, striving to introduce the beloved Iran as a spiritual, substantial and exemplary Islamic country before the world, so that other Muslim nations may walk along the same prideful path by way of resisting the sectarian and imperialist policies of the arrogant powers.
The leader of the revolution alluded to the JCPOA stating: “Sometimes the enemy creates obstacles, which can be removed through a process of wisdom and prudence, but the enemy should not be trusted under any condition. I have reiterated the truth, on the matter of distrusting the U.S. several times, over the years, but for some individuals it was hard to believe this reality. Today, even diplomacy officials and those who have been involved with the negotiations, restate the fact that the U.S. breaches its pledges, while it seeks to create obstacles and ruin Iran’s economic relations with other countries.”
He further added that 6 months have passed since the implementation of the JCPOA, but no concrete outcomes to benefit the people have, so far, been observed. “Was it not promised that the cruel sanctions would be lifted, so that people’s livelihood would be positively impacted? After six months can any tangible results be observed in people’s livelihood?” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader of the Revolution referred to his speech last year, on negotiating with the American counterparts saying, “I said this last year too, that the JCPOA would be an experience for us. Now, it is evident what the Americans would actually do. They apparently make pledges, but virtually they just plot conspiracies, this is the U.S.” He went on to refer to the JPOA as an experience, “It proved to us that, on no issue, can we negotiate with the U.S. as a trusted party. I say that we cannot negotiate with the U.S., because of what the JCPOA has given us, through experience.”
The Leader noted on experience again by saying: “They say let’s negotiate on regional issues too, but the experience we gained through JCPOA tells us that this is a lethal poison, and on no matter can we rely on the Americans’ words. Move on with your path and let the enemy run after you; however, negotiating can deviate one from the proper path. They make you budge and won’t give you anything in return.”
Ayatollah Khamenei, while expressing concerns on people’s economic problems, noted: “Promote the crafts of Iranian laborers. I have ordered officials to burn smuggled goods - in front of everyone. I continue to think on the livelihood of the people; I am deeply concerned; as I reflect, there is no solution, but relying on domestic substance. The influx of foreign businessmen into our country has bore no fruit, so far; if they do anything, it would be aimed at gaining the control of the market, which would be against us.”
The Leader of the Revolution then divulged in Saudi Arabia’s attempts, which are meant to normalize relations with the Zionist regime. He described this attempt as a stab in the Islamic Ummah’s back, saying “The move, by the Saudis, is an immense sin and treason, but the U.S. has a share in this major transgression, since the Saudi government obeys the U.S., is controlled by them, and looks up to their word of mouth.”
He called out the Saudi war on Yemen, the non-stop bombardment - of houses, hospitals and schools - and ongoing infanticide in Yemen (by the Saudi regime) as other major crimes and added, “These crimes are also committed by the U.S., which is providing arms and a green light for the Saudis.”
Ayatollah Khamenei condemned the United Nation’s silence towards these crimes, by stating: “Unfortunately, even when the UN decided to condemn these crimes after a while, they threatened and pressured the UN with their money and shut its mouth. The shamed UN Secretary General admitted to these pressures, however, instead of admitting, he should have resigned rather than stay and betray humanity.”
“U.S. animosity is not limited to the Islamic Republic of Iran; there is a great chance that the recent events in Turkey were also plotted with the help of Americans; if this is proven, it will in turn become a major scandal for the U.S.. Turkey was a regional ally of the U.S., but the Americans oppose Islam, and Islamic inclinations; therefore, since there is an Islamic inclination in the Turkey, they launched a coup. Of course, the attempted coups, as well as the U.S. are abhorred by the Turkish people, so the U.S. is declining in Iraq, Syria and other parts of the region.”
He also shed light on the U.S.’s role in creating and strengthening Takfiri groups; aimed at sowing discord among Muslim nations, while promoting an Umayyad type of Islam; in fact, giving Islam a bad name, by stating: “The Americans claim they have formed a coalition against ISIS and takfiri groups, while they do nothing practical against them and based on certain reports, they even help these groups. Today, it has backfired to them.”
Additionally, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the concern of Bahrain, describing the foreign troops sent to Bahrain, in order to oppress protesters, as an act supported by the U.S. He stated, “Today the Saudi government is in the hands of unwise individuals, but a precise analysis of regional problems reveals that the U.S. has a hand in all these issues.”
Finally, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution described unity among Muslim nations, as well as resistance against imperialist goals of the U.S. and some European countries, as a solution towards resolving regional issues. He advised, “These goals should be recognized and resisted and our nation is standing strong on the same path.”
