Leader Visits City of Dameghan

The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei visited the provincial city of Dameghan on the third day of his tour of Semnan Province on Friday, November 10.

In an address to a large crowd of enthusiastic and cheerful local residents, the Leader referred to the remarkable talents and potentials and great perseverance and motivation of the Iranian people. He stated that, with such assets, the attainment of the noble ideals of the Islamic Revolution, including social justice and the elimination of discrimination, is something quite possible.

"In view of the rampant injustice in the present world, and considering that some individuals are amassing a fortune through illegal means and there are certain instances of discrimination inside the country, some are insinuating that it is not possible to administer social justice. But just as many seemingly unattainable objectives of the Iranian people after the revolution have now been accomplished, so this goal will also be achieved through the efforts of the Iranian people and especially of our youngsters," the Leader told the gathering.

Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the threats made by hegemonic powers against the Iranian nation at various stages, including their threats to wage a military aggression against the Islamic Republic in the past years.

"In those years many did not imagine that U.S. policies on the Middle East region, especially its policies against the Iranian nation, would one day suffer a setback. But considering the shameful defeat of U.S. policies toward Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Afghanistan, the world public today considers U.S. threats to be merely empty threats," Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out.

The Leader of the Islamic Republic described the recent failure of the Republican Party in the U.S. congressional elections as a sign of opposition on the part of the American public to the belligerent policies of the U.S. administration. He stated that the defeat suffered by the Republican Party in the congressional elections does not merely have domestic aspects, but that it also indicates the backlash against the U.S. president's warmongering attitude toward other nations.

"In view of the fact that Washington's hostile and militaristic policies have always been aimed at the Iranian nation, the Republican Party's defeat is in fact a political victory for the Iranian nation on the international scene," the Leader added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the cruel and ceaseless attacks of usurper Zionists on the defenseless Palestinians in Gaza.

"The Zionist regime, which has lost its fifty-year old military awe as a result of its 33-day war in Lebanon against a faithful and mujahid group that lacks any advanced military equipment, is now trying to avenge its defeat on the oppressed Palestinian people," Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

The Leader touched on the last year's negotiations between Palestinians and the Zionist regime and the agreement reached concerning the Zionist troops' pullout from Gaza. He stated that the daily crimes of ferocious Zionists in Gaza have once again proved that negotiations with the usurper Zionist regime are of no use and benefit.

Ayatollah Khamenei criticized international organizations and those in the West claiming to support human rights for their silence in the face of Zionist crimes and brutalities.

"The silence of the Westerners, especially European countries, in the face of Zionist crimes against Palestinians indicates that those claiming in the West to support human rights attach no worth and value to the lives of defenseless Palestinian men and women and children," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Friday prayer leader of Dameghan Hojjatoleslam Sayyid Mahmoud Torabi welcomed the Leader to the city of Dameghan.

Later, Ayatollah Khamenei visited the city's Martyrs Cemetery and paid tribute to the honorable martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and of the Sacred Defense.
