Visiting Lebanese Parliament Speaker Meets the Leader

The visiting Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and a delegation comprising members of the Hezbollah and Amal movements of Lebanon met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Tuesday, November 14.

In an address to the audience, the Leader described the victory of the people and Islamic resistance movements of Lebanon in the 33-day war as a source of honor and dignity for Muslims. He stressed that what occurred in the 33-day war against the United States and the Zionist regime was unprecedented in the Arab and Islamic world, and that the important aspects of that great victory will become more evident in the future.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah as a unique personality in the Islamic world, and he also expressed his appreciation for the outstanding role played by the Lebanese Parliament speaker during the 33-day resistance of the Lebanese people.

"What prepared the ground for this great victory was the unity and concord between Hezbollah and Amal movements, and this harmony and solidarity should be further strengthened," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.

Further in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Republic pointed out that the hatching of political plots by the United States and the Zionist regime in Lebanon with the intention of diluting the effects of the Lebanese people's great victory is quite likely.

"The people and the Islamic resistance movements of Lebanon should be prepared for any contingency. However, it should be noted that the political awareness in Lebanon is much greater and the morale of the Lebanese people and Islamic resistance movements and their supporters in the Islamic world is much higher today compared with the time before the 33-day war in Lebanon," Ayatollah Khamenei observed.

Emphasizing the fact that the morale of the Lebanese nation's enemies has been much weakened, the Leader stated that, by the favor of Allah, Lebanon will be the place where the United States and the Zionist regime will suffer their defeat.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the political events that are taking place in the region and in the world indicate the beginning of a new era.

"Today, U.S. policies are suffering a setback, and Muslims should try to make the most of the present opportunities through increased efforts, firm determination and reliance on Almighty Allah," the Leader told the audience.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is today in a better and stronger position compared with the past, adding that "future prospects are even brighter and much more promising."

Speaking at the meeting, which was also attended by Majlis Speaker Gholamali Haddad-Adel, the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri attributed the victory of the Lebanese people and Islamic resistance movements to valor of Lebanese youth, resistance against the Zionist regime's military aggression, unity and solidarity of the Lebanese people and their support for the Islamic resistance movements as well as concord and cooperation between different Islamic resistance groups.

"The victory in the 33-day war indicated that faith and belief is more effective than arms and weapons," he added.

The Lebanese Parliament speaker further criticized international organizations and Western countries for their silence about the Zionist regime's crimes in Lebanon. He noted that, by the power of Allah, the plots and machinations of those who were aiming for a 'Greater Middle East' backfired, and that the recent developments have initiated the downfall of the U.S. empire.

Berri also expressed his gratitude for the Islamic Republic of Iran's moral support for the Lebanese people.

"Although the United States and the Zionist regime are trying to prevent Iran's spiritual influence in the region, the Islamic Republic will be the major regional power in the new era," the Lebanese Parliament speaker observed.
