Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei held a meeting today with a group of educators. One particular topic he touched on was about the military presence of Iran in the Persian Gulf.
The leader said, in a situation where we are unafraid of demonstrating our military power, the enemy becomes offended, saying, “Iran should not perform any military exercises in the Persian Gulf, it's so immoral of them!”
The Leader then made an important point upon mentioning the Bay of Pigs conflict, he reiterated, "They come here from the other side of the world to perform a military exercise? Well, look the other way, towards the Bay of Pigs!
What are you doing here? The Persian Gulf is our home; it’s a place for eminent presence of the Iranian nation. This is how we should confront the powers who have unwarranted demands.”
The reference made by the Commander-in-Chief about the Bay of Pigs is ironic; it indicates U.S. military weakness that stems from their failed operation in the "Bay of Pigs" in Cuba. (Bay of Pigs is a small part of the Caribbean Sea south of Cuba, which is located at 30 km south of Jagüey Grande, 70 km West of Cienfuegos and 150 kilometers southeast of Havana, capital of Cuba.)
