Meeting with Kazakhstan president

U.S. is not serious in fighting against terrorism: Leader

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Monday afternoon with Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan.

President Rouhani was also present at the meeting. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence referred to the necessity to increase cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan in political, economic and international areas and in the area of fighting against terrorism, further reiterating: “Some powers – America in particular – are not sincere and serious in their claim to fight against terrorism, but Islamic countries can drive this threat away from the world of Islam with their sincere cooperation.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the American assistance to DAESH as a clear example of insincere behavior that is shown by the various coalitions that claim to be fighting against terrorism, adding: “In order to justify their dual conducts, they divide terrorism into two groups of good and bad.”

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the European nationality of terrorists in Europe and also the active presence of individuals from these countries in terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq, saying: “These realities indicate a lack of seriousness by the west – particularly by the Americans – in fighting against terrorism.”

His Eminence described today’s world as a world of chaos: “Today, on the one hand, Islamic countries face the danger of those terrorist groups that are active in the name of Islam- and in fact against Islam and Muslims- and on the other hand, some western powers do not like Muslim countries to be united and to stand side by side.”

He stressed that if Muslims want to confront the danger of terrorism and the dual behavior of superpowers, this requires the cooperation of Islamic countries within the framework of reasonable and rational policies. He added: “We have a feeling of brotherhood towards Muslim countries and the positions of Iran and Kazakhstan are similar on many international issues.”

Referring to Kazakhstan’s cooperation with Iran on international scenes, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated: “Considering our common religion, history and culture and our numerous capacities, the financial and economic relations between Iran and Kazakhstan are at a low level. We welcome an increase in the volume of cooperation in different political, economic, financial and transportation areas and also in the area of rules and regulations about common sea borders.”

The President of Kazakhstan described Iran as a great, powerful and reliable neighbor and said: “The two countries have many capacities for expanding their relations. On this trip, we have reached an agreement on important economic and financial projects. This will lead to growth and an increase in the volume of cooperation between the two countries.”

Describing terrorism as a serious threat, Nazarbayev pointed to the emergence of terrorist incidents in the west and western efforts to introduce Islam as a symbol of terrorism, further stating: “Terrorism and the flood of refugees immigrating to western countries is, in fact, a result of confronting the legal governments of regional countries by western powers. When a stable central government is undermined in a country, terrorism will replace it.”

Nursultan Nazarbayev referred to the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the spiritual influence of the Leader in Islamic countries, stressing: “I completely agree with your viewpoints on the issue of the unity of the world of Islam. We should show the whole world that Islam is the religion of progress, of unity and of fighting against terrorism.”
