Leader

Present Era is the Era of Both Negotiations and Missiles

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Wednesday morning with a group of panegyrists of the Ahlul Bayt, on the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (s.a.). Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence stressed that highlighting the practical aspects of the Imams’ (a.s.) lives will add depth to panegyrists’ work and will increase their influence.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that the enemies use all kinds of weapons in order to confront the people of Iran, saying: “Considering the complex conditions of the present time and those of the future, we should benefit from all political, economic, social and defense weapons in order to strengthen Iran’s positions.”

Ayatollah Khamenei mentioned that panegyrists’ attention to the developments of the time is necessary, adding: “Arrogance – which is reliant on political, economic, cultural and military bullying – will do its best to deliver a blow to the Islamic Republic and the people of Iran, and this reality should not be ignored.”

His Eminence stated that the enemies of the Revolution use all old and modern weapons in order to show their enmity to Iran: “They use negotiations, economic transactions, sanctions, military threats and different other means in order to further their goals. So, we should be able to confront them and to defend ourselves in all these areas.”

He described the military power of arrogance as its main source of support for bullying the people of Iran, adding: “In this jungle of global chaos, if the Islamic Republic only relies on negotiations, economic transactions and even science and technology but suffers from a lack of defensive capabilities, would all governments – including small ones – not allow themselves to threaten the people of Iran?”

Criticizing those who consider today’s world as the world of negotiations not of missiles, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: “The present era is the era of all phenomena. If they can, they will easily and openly violate the rights of the people of Iran. If they said this out of ignorance, this is a different issue, but if they say it knowingly and on purpose, it is treason.”

Ayatollah Khamenei described the presentation of advanced and superb missiles by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as a source of joy for those nations who are very angry at America and the Zionist regime but who cannot do anything against them. He reiterated: “The enemies are constantly strengthening their military and missile power. In such circumstances, how can we say that the era of missiles is over?”

Comparing this statement with the similar statements that were made in the beginning of the Revolution, His Eminence said: “Some members of the interim government too used to say that we should have given back the F-14s that we had bought to America, because they were of no use. At that time, we showed resistance and we revealed their true intentions. After some time – when Saddam attacked Iran – it became clear how much we needed those defensive weapons.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that there is nothing wrong with using the means of diplomacy and political negotiations apart from a few exceptions: “They should not promote the idea that we are opposed to negotiations. What we are saying is that we should negotiate in a vigorous and vigilant manner so that we will not be conned.”

Ayatollah Khamenei called on the panegyrists of Ahlul Bayt to take a serious approach towards the enemies’ effort to weaken the youth’s beliefs, stating: “There is an effort to weaken the youth’s belief in Islam, in the efficiency of the Islamic government and even in the capability of the Islamic Republic to continue its life.”

His Eminence added: “Of course, it is 37 years now that with different plots, the enemies have been saying that it is impossible for the Islamic Republic to continue its life, but the Iranian nation’s elected system and government has changed from a thin sapling of the pre-revolutionary era to a strong and thriving tree. This reality shows that the talent to grow, to blossom and to become stronger is in the nature of the Islamic Republic and this will be manifested on a daily basis.”

Ayatollah Khamenei described the future horizons of the country as bright and enthusiasm-generating and offering some words of advice to panegyrists, he said: “With meaningful poems and with an artistic performance, you should turn your listeners into hopeful, diligent and competent individuals and you should consider guiding the people and increasing their insight as your most important responsibility.”
