Leader Votes at the Elections for Experts Assembly and Islamic Councils

The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei voted at the elections for the Experts Assembly and the Islamic city and rural councils which were held on Friday, December 15.

Ayatollah Khamenei cast his ballots at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini at 9:23 a.m. He told the reporters afterwards that the Iranian people will perform their religious, national and revolutionary task of participating in the elections in an appropriate manner.

"The general view and conviction on the part of the Iranian people is that, by participating in elections, they can play a major role in sealing the fate of the country and nation and influence the county's decision-making process at the different levels of management. This is the reason why they always try to carry out this responsibility in a proper manner," the Leader pointed out.

Ayatollah Khamenei further prayed for the Iranian people's success in playing their due part in the country's decision-making process through a high turnout at the polls.

"By the favor of Allah, the Iranian people will carry out this significant and momentous responsibility in an appropriate manner through their high turnout at the elections," he told the audience.

A large number of Iranian reporters and foreign correspondents, photographers and cameramen covered the casting of ballots by the Leader of the Islamic Republic at the Friday elections.
