Leader Attends Mourning Ceremony at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini

The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei attended a mourning ceremony at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini on Saturday, January 27.

The ceremony, which marked the martyrdom anniversary of the Master of Martyrs Imam Hussein-ibn-Ali (greetings be upon him) and his faithful companions, was also attended by tens of thousands of faithful Tehran residents from various social strata as well as by a number of government officials.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the participants in the ceremony said their evening and night prayers which were led by Ayatollah Khamenei.

Afterwards, the eulogists of the holy Prophet's household (greetings be upon them) expounded on different aspects of the movement of Imam Hussein-ibn-Ali (greetings be upon him) and the mournful event of Ashura and recited some elegies in lamentation over the martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs and his faithful companions.

Similar ceremonies will be held at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini every night until Thursday, February 1.
