Umberto Eco

Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose", a fiction based on fact and history: Leader

It was two or three years ago when I read a Farsi translation of a story about an abbey called “Il nome della rosa” [The Name of the Rose]; it was written by the Italian author Umberto Eco. The story takes place in the middle ages; the story of the lives of priests is narrated and the author writes about their inspiration, approaches and behaviors. Of course, these events have taken place in the history and are known to us. Instead of using these facts, you see that certain movie production companies in Italy or Hollywood or elsewhere in the world use luminous and heavenly faces of imaginary priests to make a movie and promote Christianity. This is the current status of the world.

bismillah salam aleikum, I'm an italian shia muslim, I'm a publisher who published books of Imam Khomeini, Allamah Tabatabai, Shahid Mutahhari, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi (I met personally him in Qom), etc. Umberto Eco was an antireligious author, who promoted false imagine of Middle Ages, which was really a period of great spirituality and religious inspiration, approaches and behaviors. This false imagine of Middle Ages like a period of darkness, superstition etc.. was created to destroy all religious, before christianity and now Islam...the persons who promote these false ideas about Middle Ages are the same who say that Islamic Republic of Iran is a terroristic State and Islam is a dark, ignorant and violent religion, a religion of "Middle Ages".... I traveled to Iran many times and I always was very sad for this misconception about european Middle Ages. Fi aman Allah dr. Giuseppe Mahdi Aiello www.irfanedizioni.it
