PIJ Secretary-General Meets the Leader

Visiting secretary-general of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ) Sheikh Abdullah Ramadan Shallah met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Wednesday, February 7.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader stated that the issue of Al-Aqsa Mosque is a religious issue and a common concern of all Muslims. He emphasized that the Islamic world should firmly respond to the Zionist regime's disrespect to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

"The reaction of the Islamic world to this sacrilegious act should be such that it will make the Zionist regime regret what it has done," the Leader noted. He stressed that silence in this regard is by no means permissible.

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to a plot to change the Palestinian-Zionist war into a Palestinian-Palestinian conflict and expressed sorrow over the loss of lives of Palestinians, no matter to which group they belong, in their confrontations. He stated that all the Palestinian groups and Islamic countries should make every effort to thwart the enemy in his plot and make the flames of the civil war subside as soon as possible.

Further in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Republic highlighted the need for unity between the Shia and the Sunni and the boosting of trust in the divine promise to assist and confer victory on the faithful.

"The victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah over the Zionist regime, the success achieved by Hamas in Palestine and the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various arenas are all remarkable instances of the fulfillment of this divine promise, which has imbued Muslims with great motivation and perseverance," the Leader pointed out.

Hinting at the plot hatched by the United States and Israel to foment discord and division in the Islamic world, Ayatollah Khamenei further stated that this divisive plot should be foiled through vigilance, striving in the way of Allah and resistance in the face of the enemy's bullying and intimidation.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader of the Islamic Republic expressed pleasure over the valuable results of the Islamic awakening movement in the world. He stated that the spirits of the Iranian people, especially the Iranian youth, are much higher and their revolutionary fervor is much greater compared with the early years in the post-revolution era.

Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that the world's public will once again observe the high spirits and great revolutionary fervor of the Iranian people on the 28th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution's victory this year.

The secretary-general of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ) Sheikh Abdullah Ramadan Shallah, also speaking at the meeting, expressed his felicitation over the 28th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution's victory and praised the Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini. He described the Islamic Republic as the main bastion of resistance against global arrogance.

"Despite all the pressures and threats, the Palestinian people and jihadi groups are loyal to the pledge they have made to the martyrs of the Intifada that they will continue to tread the path of struggle," he noted.

PIJ secretary-general also presented a report about the latest situation in Palestine. He referred to a plot hatched by the enemies of Islam to create a religious war in the Islamic countries and hinted at their attempts to fan the flames of a civil war in Palestine.

"Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement is making every effort to put an end to the civil conflicts in Palestine, and it is hoped that their plot will soon be thwarted through an agreement reached between the warring parties," he pointed out.

Sheikh Abdullah Ramadan Shallah further touched on the internal condition of the Zionist regime and its defeat in the face of the Lebanese Hezbollah. He stressed that the Zionist regime is presently weaker and more vulnerable than at any other time.

"The Palestinian people will not keep silent in the face of the Zionist regime's new plot to desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque, and they will give a proper response to this sacrilege," PIJ secretary-general told the Leader.
